Job Overview:
The Project Engineer / Senior Site Supervisor leads site supervisors, draughtsmen, subcontractors, and direct workers in delivering assigned projects in accordance with specifications, programme, budget, quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead Project Engineers, Site Supervisors, Draughtsmen, subcontractors, and direct workers in delivering assigned projects to specification, programme, and budget.
- Attend internal and external project site meetings, hold coordination discussions, and regularly update the Project Manager on project status.
- Assume the role of Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Senior Site Supervisor when required during their absence.
Planning, Submissions & Commercial Administration
- Prepare project submissions, including work programmes, progress reports, Project Quality Plans, drawings, material catalogues or samples, memos, inspection forms, confirmations of instruction, and quotations, for submission to consultants and clients.
- Prepare material requisitions for Project Manager review, submit approved requirements to Purchasing, and follow up to ensure purchase orders or work orders are issued.
- Monitor and verify subcontractor payment claims before submitting them to the Accounts Department.
- Prepare progress claims for submission to the main contractor and ensure completed and claimed work corresponds with subcontractor claims.
- Prepare draft letters and emails for review by the relevant internal departments, and ensure completed work follows the monthly forecast claim.
Site Coordination, Resources & Quality
- Liaise with consultants and client representatives to coordinate site work and resolve site issues.
- Conduct internal discussions with subordinates, suppliers, and subcontractors to monitor progress and resolve problems.
- Consistently monitor site progress and workmanship quality, and ensure sufficient materials and manpower are available.
- Ensure materials delivered to site correspond with approved submissions and meet specified requirements.
- Provide internal training to subordinates, subcontractors, and workers whenever required.
Compliance, Nonconformance & Authorities
- Liaise with government and regulatory bodies regarding applications, submissions, inspections, and approvals.
- Prepare and issue nonconformance reports to subcontractors for failure to comply with specifications, method statements, statutory requirements, safety, health and environmental requirements, or site rules and regulations.
Records & Reporting
- Maintain proper records of submission status and site events, including photographic records and site diaries.
- Ensure Head Office records are current, including daily reports, requests for information, inspection records, monitoring lists, and related project documentation.
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in a relevant Engineering or Construction field with extensive experience in site supervision
- Minimum 3 years working experience in project engineering.
- Strong knowledge of site operations, safety, quality requirements, and coordination of workers and subcontractors.
- Experience leading site supervisors, draugtsmen, sub contractors and direct worker.
- Comfortable working in Site.
- Strong interpersonal communications.
