Job Purpose

Product Development

• This position will require to support SHIFT 32 in mechanical & electrical (M&E) engineering aspects, through applied research, development and value creation into future products, processes and technology-related services under the Property Development segment of Sime Darby Property.
• Recommend innovative, up-to-date solutions in M&E systems, including sustainable technologies, energy-efficient systems, smart building applications, etc.

Department / Unit Operational

• Ensure compliance and alignment with project requirements, cost targets, and compliance with local authority regulations
• Ensure product readiness prior to important project milestones
• Ensure the product is aligned with Sime Darby Property’s standards, specifications, and guidelines.
• Value engineering and design to cost.

Stakeholder Management

• Prepare and deliver management presentations, technical papers, proposals, and recommendations to facilitate decision-making and obtain the necessary management approvals.
• Lead discussions with management and relevant stakeholders on M&E strategies, design proposals, cost considerations, value engineering initiatives, and project implementation matters.
• Consolidate inputs and feedback from various stakeholders, evaluate key considerations, and formulate clear recommendations for management’s consideration.

Job Responsibilities

Product Development, Innovation & Sustainability Initiatives

Support HOU/Sustainability/Strategic Sourcing/Township in:

• Sourcing of innovative, sustainable and new technology research on M&E into project initiatives/pilot projects/prototypes in areas related to Sustainable Town Planning, Green Technology for Build Environment and Energy Efficient Building.
• Revolutionary expansion through the creation of new product types for M&E building system and value-added offering for new market segments.
• Evaluating, reviewing, and benchmarking the performance of M&E features offered at product development in terms of value to the purchasers, cost-benefit to the company and impact to company’s & industry’s sustainability targets.
• Participating in the project implementation process e.g., Design Review Meeting, Tender Review Meeting, Interface Meeting, Mockup Unit Assessment.

Department / Unit Operational

Support HOD/Township in:

• Carrying out checking, reviewing and reporting the M&E design being proposed by a consultant that the design shall comply with the by-law, regulation and requirement, design to cost and propose for any value engineering.
• Carrying out checking, evaluating, proposing an alternative proposal or solution for any technical matters that have concerns.
• Preparation of any guidelines/checklists/templates for standardization and enhancement to be applied in all project development works.

Stakeholder Management

Support HOU/HOD in:

• Liaising with technical partners, contractors, vendors in creating valuable partnerships.
• Engaging with focus groups and special interest groups in ensuring our designs are physically and socially equitable.
• Influencing and getting buy-in from management to approve new initiatives of M&E services.
• Engaging internal stakeholders in providing awareness on best practices of M&E services.
• Protecting the company’s confidentiality matter within stakeholders through a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
• Arranging for vendors registration with Sime Darby Property.

Education/ Professional Qualification

Certification

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

Professional qualifications

• Candidate with registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Green Certificate Facilitator e.g GBI, GreenRE, MyCREST, LEEDs, Green Mark, or equivalent will be added advantage.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction and technical design that responds to M&E services design initiatives.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in delivering project inclusive concept, schematic design, design development, tender, construction, testing & commissioning & defect liability period.
• Be able to perform electrical load calculations and assess the development’s maximum demand to advise on the appropriate TNB supply scheme, substation requirements, and associated electrical infrastructure.
