Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee corporate tax compliance and advisory engagements for a portfolio of clients across different industries.
- Review and oversee preparation of tax computations, tax returns, tax estimates and related tax schedules.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients, identifying tax risks, opportunities and potential tax savings.
- Handle matters relating to corporate income tax, withholding tax, RPGT, tax incentives and other relevant Malaysian tax matters.
- Manage and respond to IRBM/HASiL tax audits, investigations, enquiries and assessments, including liaising with tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Provide technical advice and practical solutions on Malaysian taxation matters.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation, guidelines, tax rulings and regulatory requirements, and advise clients accordingly.
- Review and ensure the accuracy and quality of tax work prepared by the team.
- Manage client relationships, understand their tax requirements and ensure timely delivery of engagements.
- Work closely with internal accounting, corporate secretarial and advisory teams to provide integrated solutions to clients.
- Provide guidance, coaching and technical support to junior and senior team members.
- Assist in developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law or a related discipline.
- Must hold a valid Malaysian Tax Agent approval/licence under Section 153 of the Income Tax Act 1967.
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant Malaysian tax experience, preferably gained from a professional tax/accounting firm or a tax advisory environment.
- Strong experience in corporate tax compliance, tax advisory and tax planning.
- Hands-on experience in dealing with IRBM/HASiL, including tax audits, investigations, enquiries, appeals and related tax matters.
- Good knowledge of the Malaysian Income Tax Act 1967 and related tax regulations.
- Strong understanding of withholding tax, RPGT, tax incentives and other corporate tax matters.
- Experience managing a portfolio of corporate clients and handling multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical tax skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal confidently with clients and tax authorities
