Job Summary
The Music Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging music lessons to students, tracking their progress, and fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about music education, patient with learners of varying ages and abilities, and committed to helping students grow both technically and creatively.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver individual and/or group music lessons tailored to student skill levels and goals
Teach music theory, technique, and performance skills relevant to the instrument(s)/voice being taught
Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents/guardians
Prepare students for recitals, examinations (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity), or performances as applicable
Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, and student progress
Select and adapt appropriate teaching materials and repertoire for each student
Create a supportive, motivating, and disciplined classroom/studio environment
Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school administration regarding scheduling, progress, and any concerns
Participate in school events, recitals, workshops, and staff meetings as required
Maintain and care for instruments/equipment used during lessons
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Proven experience teaching music (specify instrument/voice, e.g., piano, guitar, violin, vocals)
Strong knowledge of music theory and pedagogy appropriate to the instrument taught
Prior experience teaching children and/or adults preferred
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Patient, encouraging, and adaptable teaching style
Relevant certifications (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity, Yamaha) an advantage
