MRT Corp is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer, Railway Telecommunications specialising in Radio System (RS), Wireless Data Communication System (WDCS) and Train-Borne systems for the Penang Mutiara Line.
The Senior Telecommunication System Engineer acts as a core technical resource, assisting the Manager in overseeing telecommunications activities throughout the design, procurement, installation and testing phases.
The role involves technical-documentation management, field-implementation oversight and ensuring site work adheres to established schedules and specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Manager and Assistant Manager during project execution and oversee telecommunications-related activities.
- Work on site to monitor and control project progress during construction.
- Support project execution and monitoring by facilitating collaboration across communication subsystems.
- Assist in reviewing telecommunications technical submissions, BIM, CSD and SEM models and managing design documentation.
- Manage telecommunications interfaces between Work Package Contractors, the Civil Main Contractor and other parties.
- Establish, monitor and close Interface Requirements, Interface Specification Registers and Interface Control Documents.
- Participate in interface meetings, technical workshops and coordination sessions.
- Support management of telecommunications interface-related deliverables, approvals, actions and compliance records.
- Support physical site implementation, installation, interface/integration and testing & commissioning.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, Site Integration Tests, end-to-end testing and trial running.
- Monitor site activities against project schedules and technical-compliance requirements.
- Support identification and management of interface risks, design changes and configuration updates.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent to second class upper.
- Minimum 8 years of working experience in the railway industry, especially in railway Telecommunication Systems such as Radio System (RS), Wireless Data Communication System (WDCS) and Train-Borne systems.
- Experience in metro or mainline railway projects.
- Proven experience managing Interface Control Documents and multidisciplinary railway interfaces.
- Good knowledge of railway metro systems and their interfaces with other systems and civil works.
The role involves both office-based design review and active on-site monitoring and control.
