About the Role

Rooftop Energy builds and runs software for solar project operations, generator monitoring and enterprise workflows. We are hiring our first dedicated DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure our engineers use to build, deploy and operate these products.

The role covers Amazon Web Services (AWS), continuous integration and delivery, on-premise virtualisation, networking and observability. You will improve the reliability and security of the platform while giving engineers a faster, safer path to production.

About the Group

Rooftop Energy is part of Altus Energy, a Malaysian power and energy-technology group with more than two decades of operating history. The group designs, builds and operates power assets, and develops software products spanning solar deployment, power-asset management and adjacent power-infrastructure domains. RooftopIQ is our flagship SaaS product line, built on a single platform spine that also powers GensetIQ (diesel-generator fleet monitoring), our telco monitoring products and our internal operations systems. We operate primarily across Malaysia today, with regional ambitions across Southeast Asia and beyond. Rooftop Energy itself is an early-stage startup within the group, and we are still building out our founding team, so you join early with a real hand in how we build.

What you'll work with

• Establish the infrastructure function within an early-stage engineering team. You will turn working systems and unwritten practices into a reliable platform the team can operate and improve. This requires independent decisions, clear documentation and ownership of whole problems.
• Own the continuous integration and delivery platform, including our self-hosted GitHub Actions runner fleet
• Manage development, staging and production environments on AWS using infrastructure as code
• Operate our Linux and Proxmox infrastructure, internal network and access systems
• Maintain monitoring, dashboards and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana
• Improve deployment safety, security controls, audit logging and secret management
• Lead infrastructure incident investigations, fix recurring causes and document the systems you own
• Support the infrastructure requirements of our ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certification programme

Who you probably are

• At least 1-3 years of experience in DevOps, site reliability, platform or infrastructure engineering
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
• Production experience with AWS, container workloads, networking, identity and access management, and managed databases
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Pulumi, Terraform or AWS CDK
• Experience building or operating continuous integration and delivery pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions
• Working knowledge of Docker and scripting in Python or Bash
• Confidence taking ownership of production systems and incidents

Good to Have

• Pulumi in Python
• Proxmox or other bare-metal virtualisation
• Prometheus and Grafana
• ECS Fargate or production Python and Django workloads
• WireGuard-based networks such as Tailscale or Headscale
• Exposure to ISO 27001 or a comparable certification programme
• Experience with device telemetry or MQTT
