Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer

Salary: RM4,000 – RM7,000 per month, negotiable based on experience and qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leading organization in the manufacturing/industrial sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer to join their IT team in Senai, Johor.

This role is responsible for providing advanced end-user support while ensuring the stability, security, availability, and efficiency of the organization's IT infrastructure.

You will work closely with Helpdesk, Network, Data Center, Infrastructure, Global IS teams, vendors, and service providers to support daily IT operations, infrastructure projects, and continuous service improvements across both office and production environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-User & IT Support

• Provide on-site and remote technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and IT peripherals.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, incident resolution, and escalation support for Helpdesk and Global IS teams.
• Serve as a key interface between end users and IS teams for IT requests, incidents, and service delivery.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software.
• Support users across both office and production environments.
  

System Administration

• Perform routine administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments.
• Conduct system health checks, monitoring, and log reviews.
• Manage and monitor Windows patch deployment using solutions such as WSUS.
• Support Windows OS, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, and related infrastructure services.
• Maintain accurate IT asset inventories and ensure compliance with asset management policies.
  

Network & Security

• Troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, LAN, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including:
• Network switches
• Wireless Access Points and Controllers
• Routers
• Firewalls
• Support LAN and wireless connectivity across office and manufacturing/production environments.
• Support structured cabling activities, network labelling, documentation, and standards compliance.
• Maintain network topology diagrams, cabling documentation, and infrastructure inventories.
• Monitor network performance, capacity, availability, and overall infrastructure health.
• Support endpoint protection and network security technologies, including CrowdStrike, BYOD controls, guest networks, and remote access solutions.
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of network security and compliance controls.
• Coordinate with network service providers and vendors for circuit installation, troubleshooting, and technical escalations.
• Support technologies such as Cloudflare and Endpoint Central, with exposure to future Network Access Control (NAC) initiatives.
  

Virtualization

• Support Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Provision, start/stop, monitor, and maintain virtual machines.
• Monitor VM resources including CPU, memory, storage, and disk utilization.
• Assist with VM lifecycle management, including provisioning, scaling, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  

Backup & Recovery

• Execute and monitor daily backup jobs using solutions such as Arcserve UDP.
• Monitor backup status and ensure successful completion and data integrity.
• Prepare regular backup monitoring and status reports.
• Perform ad-hoc file and folder restoration requests.
• Conduct periodic restoration testing to validate backup and disaster recovery readiness.
  

IT Operations & Projects

• Support daily IT operations across office and production environments.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, deployments, migrations, and improvement projects.
• Collaborate with internal IS teams, vendors, service providers, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, asset records, and infrastructure information.
• Identify opportunities to improve IT service quality, infrastructure reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
  

RequirementsEducation & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT support and infrastructure operations.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience managing LAN/network infrastructure.
• Experience supporting both office and production/manufacturing environments is an advantage.
  

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

• PC hardware, components, and peripherals
• Windows operating systems, particularly Windows 10 and above
• Microsoft Office applications

Working knowledge of:

• Windows Server 2019 or above
• Active Directory
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft 365
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, LAN, and Wi-Fi
• IT security and endpoint protection
• Network switches, wireless access points, routers, and firewalls

Experience with the following will be an advantage:

Preferred Certifications

• RHCSA / RHCE
• MCSA or relevant Microsoft certifications
