Are you warm, energetic, and confident leading kids in music through play? We’re hiring a Freelance Music Instructor to teach children ages 6–12 through a fun, structured music class focused on rhythm, singing, creativity, listening, and movement .
Lessons are hands-on and highly interactive (think: body percussion, rhythm games, pop/classic sing-alongs, simple instrument play, and group music-making). Training and lesson materials will be provided.
Availability required: W eekly commitment; excluding school holidays)
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging music classes: Deliver 1.5-hour sessions using our lesson materials (rhythm + singing + movement + creativity).
- Lead group singing & confidence-building activities: Vocal warm-ups, echo singing, call-and-response, and child-friendly songs.
- Run rhythm and instrument activities: Guide students using simple percussion instruments (shakers, tambourines, claves, drums, boomwhackers) and occasional DIY instruments.
- Support creativity & collaboration: Help kids create rhythms, simple compositions, music stories, and partner/group performances.
- Create a safe, positive learning environment: Manage classroom energy, encourage participation, and keep sessions organised and fun.
Key Requirements
- Basic music theory knowledge (steady beat, tempo, dynamics, simple note values, pitch high/low).
- Comfortable leading singing, movement, and rhythm games for groups of children.
- Strong classroom presence: clear communication, patience, positivity, and the ability to manage behaviour kindly but firmly.
- Reliable and professional in school settings.
- Willing to travel to various school locations across Singapore.
- Willing to undergo a background check (required for school settings).
- Able to commit to weekly Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays for a minimum term of 6 months (excluding school holidays).
Bonus (not required):
- Ability to play keyboard, guitar, or ukulele proficiently (useful for pitch support, accompaniment, and games).
- Prior experience teaching children (music, enrichment, CCA, tuition, etc.).
Interview & Selection Process
Candidates will undergo a 3-stage process:
- Initial Screening & Group Stage (Video Call) – Short interview + group interaction.
- Face-to-Face Session & Trial Lesson Segment – In-person meeting, training, and a short demo delivery.
- Tryout Class (Final Review) – Conduct a supervised class session for final evaluation.
Training Provided
- Full training in lesson delivery and classroom management will be provided.
- Access to lesson materials, activity guides, and suggested playlists.
