Job Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant supports the Pharmacy Department in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmaceutical services by assisting pharmacists in medication dispensing, inventory management, procurement activities, and customer service. The role also provides operational support to the front counter when required, ensuring a smooth patient registration process while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dispensing Support
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately.
- Label, pack, and organize medications according to prescriptions.
- Ensure medications are stored under appropriate conditions.
- Assist in preparing medications for inpatient and outpatient services.
2. Inventory & Procurement Support
- Monitor medication and consumable stock levels.
- Perform stock replenishment and routine inventory counts.
- Receive, inspect, and record pharmaceutical deliveries.
- Identify expired, damaged, or near-expiry items and report accordingly.
- Assist in procurement activities, including preparing purchase requests, coordinating with suppliers, following up on orders, and ensuring timely replenishment of pharmacy stock whenever operational needs arise.
- Support proper documentation of procurement and inventory records in accordance with hospital procedures.
3. Customer Service & Front Counter Support
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to patients and visitors.
- Process pharmacy transactions and payments where applicable.
- Assist the Front Office team with patient registration, appointment-related enquiries, and counter operations whenever required to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Respond to general enquiries and refer clinical or medication-related questions to the pharmacist.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
- Comply with hospital SOPs, MOH regulations, and internal policies.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of the pharmacy area.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and departmental meetings.
Requirements
Education
- Diploma in Pharmacy or a relevant qualification is preferred.
- SPM holders with relevant pharmacy experience may be considered.
Experience
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinic pharmacy is an advantage.

Working Hours
