Job Summary

You will lead the design and delivery of AI-enabled backend applications, collaborating closely with business units to build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that drive measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Embed with business units to analyze operational workflows, identify pain points, and translate needs into prioritized use cases, user stories, and measurable success criteria.
• Facilitate discovery sessions to challenge assumptions and shape solution designs aligned with business goals.
• Rapidly prototype AI-enabled applications and workflows, validate with users, and iterate to balance speed with maintainability.
• Design and implement reliable AI workflows and agents using Python-based frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, or n8n, integrating deterministic steps, LLM reasoning, tool calling, state management, human approvals, and exception handling.
• Develop custom backend services, APIs, integrations, authentication, workflow logic, and lightweight user interfaces tailored to business use cases.
• Design and build robust data ingestion, transformation, and retrieval pipelines integrating enterprise systems, databases, document repositories, APIs, and search/vector services while ensuring data quality, lineage, and access controls.
• Engineer secure, scalable backend services and relational data models using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL; diagnose and resolve complex integration, performance, and state-management issues.
• Define AI solution evaluation datasets and acceptance criteria; test quality, reliability, latency, cost, and tool-call success; implement tracing and monitoring; and continuously improve prompts, retrieval, workflows, and safeguards.
• Apply secure engineering practices including least-privilege access, data protection, prompt-injection defenses, output controls, auditability, and human oversight in compliance with government policies and risk profiles.
• Manage production readiness, testing, rollout, documentation, user enablement, support, and knowledge transfer; track adoption and business outcomes; and incorporate field learnings into reusable patterns and platform improvements.

Required competencies and certifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python or another modern backend language.
• Strong experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-enabled applications, RAG solutions, tool-calling agents, or automated workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, n8n, or equivalent.
• Practical experience deploying and operating cloud-native applications.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS and services such as Bedrock and OpenSearch.
• Experience in consulting delivery, solutions engineering, internal product delivery, or roles involving direct collaboration with users and end-to-end implementation.
• Experience with visual workflow builders such as n8n or Flowise, including custom nodes, integrations, credential handling, and operational support.
• Experience with LLM evaluation, tracing, observability, red-teaming, or quality assurance tools and methods.
• Experience delivering applications subject to stringent data privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility, or government requirements, including IM8 policies.
