Now, we are looking for a Concept & Technical Designer who is imaginative in ideation and rigorous in technical execution, someone who can bridge the gap between creative vision and buildable documentation.

As a Concept & Technical Designer at ISD, you will be involved across the complete design continuum from initial concept sketches to comprehensive tender documentation.

You will be responsible for exploring bold spatial concepts, developing design narratives and translating client briefs into buildable, compliant and exquisitely detailed interior environments.

This is a role for a versatile designer who understands that a great concept is only as strong as its technical delivery.

It is about understanding people, space, building codes, joinery, services and construction methodologies, ensuring the purity of the initial design intent survives all the way through to final site implementation.

You will collaborate closely with our Design, Technical, Project and Contract Administration teams, playing an integral role across concept development, design development, local authority requirements, and full tender documentation.

Your role will include, but not be limited to:

• Develop creative interior design concepts, narratives and spatial strategies for corporate, commercial, and institutional projects.
• Translate client briefs, business requirements and functional workflows into innovative spatial planning and visual directions.
• Produce compelling concept presentation decks, mood boards and material palettes that clearly convey the design intent, mood and spatial character.
• Balance creative storytelling with practical functionality, budget boundaries and buildability from day one.

• Translate approved conceptual designs into comprehensive technical drawing packages, including plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCP), flooring layouts, elevations, sections and detailed joinery/millwork drawings.
• Develop precise, buildable construction details (bespoke cabinetry, partitions, feature ceilings, ironmongery and acoustic treatments).
• Ensure drawings strictly comply with the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) requirements and local authority guidelines.
• Prepare material and finishes schedules, sanitaryware schedules, ironmongery schedules and technical specifications for tender and construction phases.

• Coordinate architectural and interior layouts seamlessly with M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) and C&S (Civil & Structural) engineering services.
• Integrate HVAC ducts, sprinkler lines, lighting circuits, IT/data infrastructure and plumbing requirements into clean, coherent interior details.
• Identify technical discrepancies or buildability challenges early and formulate practical, cost-effective design solutions.

• Produce accurate 2D technical drawings and documentation packages using AutoCAD.
• Build 3D conceptual massing, spatial studies and detail mockups using SketchUp.
• Generate real-time renderings and atmospheric visuals using Enscape and/or D5 Render.
• Leverage AI workflows and emerging digital tools to accelerate ideation, rendering and visual presentation.

• Assist project teams in addressing technical queries, RFIs (Requests for Information) and contractor shop drawing reviews.
• Participate in mock-up reviews, material sampling approvals and joinery dry-fit inspections to ensure design fidelity on-site.

• A Diploma or Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
• 2–6 years of hands-on experience spanning both conceptual design and technical documentation within an interior design consultancy.
• High proficiency in AutoCAD with a disciplined approach to layers, drafting standards and documentation rigor.
• Strong skills in SketchUp paired with Enscape and/or D5 Render.
• Solid understanding of joinery construction, building materials, finishes detailing and construction methodologies.
• Sound working knowledge of the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), BOMBA regulations and local authority statutory guidelines.
• Proven ability to produce a complete Tender & Construction drawing package independently or with minimal supervision.
• Strong aesthetic sensitivity, capable of developing mood boards, color theories and spatial narratives.
• Familiarity with M&E services integration (air-conditioning, fire protection, electrical, and plumbing).
• Exposure to AI-assisted design tools and an appetite for modern digital workflows.
• Strong organizational skills, eye for detail and the ability to manage timelines across multiple project stages.
