About The Job
In this role, the successful candidate will join our client’s Commercial Credit Division as a Senior Credit Approver (Senior Vice President level). Operating as an individual contributor, the individual will evaluate and approve commercial credit facilities within delegated credit authority (CDL). The mid-market portfolio bridges SME and Corporate banking, requiring strong business acumen to manage complex credit structures and non-standard audited accounts. The Senior Credit Approver will work closely with Relationship Managers and key stakeholders to balance risk mitigation with business growth, managing a standard volume of approximately 60 case reviews per month.
Key Responsibilities
- Approve credit and financing applications—including new facilities, incremental lines, annual reviews, temporary excesses, and renewals—within delegated authority limits.
- Perform independent credit evaluations and prepare detailed assessments for high-value applications requiring approval beyond CDL.
- Review and validate internal customer credit ratings.
- Collaborate with Business Units (BU) and Relationship Managers to resolve complex credit issues, mitigate portfolio risk, and maintain strong underwriting standards.
- Ensure all credit decisions comply with internal risk policy guidelines and regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 18 to 20 years of total experience in Commercial or Corporate Banking.
- Core Expertise: A strong background in Credit Approval, Credit Evaluation, or Risk Assessment, with a proven track record handling mid-market or corporate credit facilities.
- Frontline Background: Prior exposure as a Relationship Manager (RM) or in direct business-line roles is highly preferred to ensure a deep understanding of commercial client operations.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical capabilities covering both plain vanilla and structured financing transactions.
- Industry Focus: Open to credit experience across key sectors including Real Estate, Construction, Oil & Gas, Technology, and Telecommunications.
