Job Summary:
- We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Control Engineer with strong expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), HVAC controls, automation and smart building technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, engineering, programming, commissioning and technical management of control systems for commercial buildings, industrial facilities, data centres and other complex projects. The role requires strong hands-on technical knowledge, project experience and the ability to lead control engineering activities from design through commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Control System Engineering
- Design and develop control strategies for BMS, EMS and HVAC systems.
- Prepare control philosophies, sequences of operation, points lists, I/O schedules and control schematics.
- Develop functional specifications and system architecture.
- Review and approve control panel, instrumentation and system designs.
- Ensure control solutions comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
2. BMS & EMS
- Design and implement BMS/DDC control systems for HVAC and building services.
- Develop energy monitoring and optimisation strategies.
- Integrate electrical, mechanical and other building systems into BMS/EMS platforms.
- Analyse energy consumption and identify opportunities for energy optimisation.
- Develop dashboards, trends, alarms, reports and performance monitoring solutions.
3. Programming & Integration
- Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC/DDC/controller programs.
- Configure BMS supervisory systems, controllers, graphics and databases.
- Integrate systems using protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, KNX, OPC and MQTT.
- Interface BMS with HVAC, chiller plants, meters, lighting, access control, fire systems and other third-party systems.
- Troubleshoot communication, networking and control-system issues.
4. Commissioning & Testing
- Lead system testing, commissioning and functional performance testing.
- Conduct point-to-point testing and sequence verification.
- Troubleshoot control loops, sensors, actuators, valves and field devices.
- Verify system performance against approved sequences and project requirements.
- Prepare commissioning reports, test records and handover documentation.
5. Project & Technical Leadership
- Lead and mentor junior control engineers and technicians.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, M&E engineers and clients.
- Review technical submissions, drawings and shop drawings.
- Participate in design meetings, technical discussions and site coordination.
- Manage engineering deliverables and ensure projects meet agreed schedules and quality requirements.
6. AI & Smart Building Technologies
- Evaluate opportunities to apply AI, machine learning and analytics to building operations.
- Support development of predictive maintenance and fault detection solutions.
- Develop or support AI-based energy optimisation strategies.
- Analyse BMS data to identify operational inefficiencies.
- Explore smart-building technologies and digital-twin applications.
