Role Summary
The Global Supplier Quality Audits & QMS Manager drives customer-focused excellence, strict regulatory compliance, and robust quality governance across external and vertically integrated suppliers worldwide. Reporting to Supplier Quality Management, this role leads Celestica's global supplier audit program, oversees worldwide Supplier Quality Management System (SQMS) procedures, and enforces compliance across highly regulated industries (e.g., Aerospace, Medical Devices, Automotive). While supporting local sites and supplier enablement, the primary mandate focuses on audit leadership, regulatory alignment, and global QMS governance to maintain a Zero-Defect culture and mitigate supply chain risk.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Program Leadership & Execution
- Global Audit Strategy: Lead, schedule, and prioritize the risk-based global supplier audit program for critical suppliers in compliance with worldwide procedures.
- Audit Execution: Conduct Supplier Qualification and Quality Systems audits assessing technical, process, and regulatory capabilities; lead supplier selection and onboarding evaluations.
- Auditor Roster Management: Maintain the global qualified auditor register, ensuring properly credentialed auditors are assigned to international engagements.
- Audit Analytics & KPIs: Track global audit KPIs, evaluate program effectiveness, and deliver monthly executive reporting to senior leadership.
Global QMS & Regulatory Governance
- SQMS Document Management: Drive the creation, approval, and ongoing maintenance of worldwide Supplier Quality Management System (SQMS) documentation and controls in collaboration with global stakeholders.
- Process Standardization: Develop, deploy, and continuously enhance global Supplier Quality standards, policies, and document governance.
- Requirement Flow-Down: Monitor and enforce the flow-down of customer, regulatory, and Celestica requirements to suppliers and sub-suppliers to ensure total transparency and compliance.
Issue Resolution, Performance & Enablement
- Corrective Action & SQIP: Drive Supplier Quality Improvement Plans (SQIP) to resolve systemic compliance and quality issues using structured 8D root-cause problem solving.
- Performance Analytics & Reviews: Generate and analyze supplier quality metrics; participate in Periodic Business Reviews (PBRs) for high-impact and preferred suppliers.
- Supplier Enablement & Coaching: Educate suppliers on core quality methodologies (FMEA, Control Plans, 8D/RCA, APQP, PPAP, SPC) and regulatory standards.
- NPI & Site Support: Support local site Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) during New Product Introduction (NPI), transitions, and process changes.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Required Qualifications & High-Priority Competencies
- Communication & Technical Authoring: Top-notch spoken and written English fluency with demonstrated expertise in authoring complex technical documentation, standards, and QMS procedures.
- Audit Expertise & Certification: Certified Lead Auditor credential (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, or IATF 16949) with extensive, recent hands-on experience leading multi-site quality system audits.
- Regulated Industry Standards: Deep working knowledge of regulated industry quality frameworks, including ISO 9001, AS9100 / AS9000 (Aerospace), ISO 13485 / FDA (Medical Devices), and IATF 16949 / VDA (Automotive).
- Experience: Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in quality management, quality engineering, global auditing, or regulatory compliance in manufacturing environments.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel 50% – 75% globally.
Technical & Operational Competencies
- Manufacturing Background: Hands-on experience with electronic and mechanical assembly, alongside broad knowledge of varied manufacturing processes.
- Problem-Solving Mastery: Advanced capability to lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective actions utilizing 8D and structured quality tools.
- Core Quality Tools: Deep familiarity with APQP, FMEA, PPAP, Control Plans, SPC, and Gage R&R.
- Quality Controls: Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and management of Key/Critical Characteristics.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and direct industry experience.
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.
