Purpose of This Role

The Sound Designer is part of the Audio Post team, creating and delivering high-quality audio for Mediacorp's productions across dramas, entertainment programmes, documentaries, game shows, feature films and digital content.

They work closely with creative teams from development through final delivery to ensure audio supports the storytelling and meets creative, technical and broadcast standards, across stereo, surround and immersive formats.

Scope of The Role

We are looking for a Sound Designer to create and deliver creative audio for Mediacorp productions. The role covers composing and arranging original music, writing mood/underscore music, recording, sound design and foley, and final mixing to a broadcast-ready standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement music and sound effects design for dramas, sitcoms, TVCs, variety shows, documentaries, movies, social media and other content.

• Compose and arrange original music, mood/underscore and theme music across different genres and production requirements.

• Write and produce music to fit creative briefs and scene emotion, and score to picture where required.

• Record and edit vocals and live instruments.

• Design and edit sound effects (SFX) and foley.

• Edit and mix dialogue, music and effects to professional broadcast standards, including stereo and surround formats.

• Work with producers and directors during spotting sessions and deliver session files and audio assets according to technical specifications.

• Manage assigned projects and meet production and broadcast deadlines.

• Diploma or degree in Music, Audio Production, Sound Design, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

• Relevant experience in audio post-production, music production, sound design and/or music composition.

• Strong musical background with demonstrated composition and arranging experience. Portfolio / demo reel required.

• Working knowledge of industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), including Avid Pro Tools, Cubase and Logic Pro.

• Familiarity with virtual instruments, sample libraries, plug-ins and audio restoration / sound-design tools (e.g. iZotope RX).

• Strong understanding of audio post-production workflows and professional broadcast standards.

• Competent in sound design, SFX editing, foley, dialogue editing, music editing, audio mixing and mastering.

• Able to compose, arrange and produce original music, mood/underscore and theme music across different genres and production requirements.

• Proficient in audio editing, MIDI programming, music production, recording and mixing.

• Strong musical sensitivity to balance, timbre, rhythm, melody, harmony and musical structure.

• Able to record and edit vocals and live instruments.

• Able to mix dialogue, music and effects for stereo, surround and other required delivery formats.

• Ability to play at least one musical instrument would be advantageous.

• Prioritises well, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet production and broadcast deadlines.

• Collaborates and communicates effectively with coworkers, producers, directors, artistes and other production stakeholders.

• Meticulous and detail-oriented, able to exercise sound individual judgment.

• Adapts and manages well under pressure.

• Willing to learn new technologies, tools and production workflows.

• Able to work shifts and weekends.
