Consulting Partner – Oil & Gas

About the Role

As a Consulting Partner – Oil & Gas, based in Kuala Lumpur, you will leverage your consulting expertise and deep industry knowledge to create measurable impact across client engagements. You will identify opportunities, shape solutions, win consulting-led work, and lead the design and implementation of effective business and technology transformations.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, commercially minded consulting leader who combines strong Oil & Gas domain expertise with the ability to develop relationships, lead complex engagements, and deliver tangible business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement and Delivery

• Independently manage the end-to-end delivery of consulting-led projects, from scoping and solution design through implementation and benefits realization.
• Identify areas for improvement and design practical, effective solutions aligned with client objectives.
• Engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle, including scoping, proposal development, project management, implementation, and stakeholder alignment.
• Lead client meetings, interviews, workshops, and working sessions across different stages of an engagement.
• Lead quantitative and qualitative analysis, evaluate results, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, business cases, and other materials for client engagements and business development.
• Develop project work plans, progress trackers, status reports, and delivery governance structures.
• Identify project critical paths, risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
• Work closely with Senior Subject Matter Experts to deliver and co-deliver project workstreams.
• Collaborate with managers and consulting teams to prepare technically robust and commercially compelling proposals.

Industry and Solution Development

• Apply strong Oil & Gas industry knowledge, particularly across:
• Downstream
• Gas and LNG
• Supply Chain and Logistics
• Related value-chain operations and business processes
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of consulting methodologies, intellectual property, frameworks, and service offerings.
• Demonstrate curiosity about the application of AI and emerging technologies to consulting and industry workflows.
• Stay current with industry trends, market developments, technology advancements, pricing models, and relevant technical practices.
• Develop thought leadership and share best practices across functional and industry networks.

Business Development and Internal Contribution

• Support the creation, shaping, and conversion of consulting-led opportunities.
• Build effective working relationships across the region and participate in global technical and industry communities.
• Develop and maintain a strong network of regional client and industry contacts.
• Collaborate with functional and industry peers to strengthen methodologies and expand consulting capabilities.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and the continuous enhancement of organisation’s intellectual property.
• Support a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and client-centric delivery.

Required Experience

• Minimum 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• At least 5 years of consulting-led sales and delivery experience.
• Proven experience in at least one of the following Oil & Gas business areas:
• Downstream
• Gas and LNG
• Supply Chain and Logistics
• Demonstrated ability to both create and win opportunities and deliver consulting-led engagements.
• Experience overseeing large, complex, and diverse transformation programs, preferably in a management consulting environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry in Malaysia or Southeast Asia, including:
• The end-to-end value chain
• Major market trends and industry developments
• Key regional players
• Business risks and challenges
• Value drivers and transformation priorities
• Experience working with senior client stakeholders and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, ambiguous, and fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
• MBA or Master’s degree preferred but not mandatory.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
