Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and customer-focused Cashier & Food Service Assistant to oversee daily point-of-sale (POS) operations and support front-of-house service at our corporate/factory canteen in Port Klang Free Zone. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth payment processing, high standards of cleanliness, and excellent customer service during peak meal hours.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cashiering & Cash Handling

• Process daily food and beverage transactions accurately using the POS system or cash register.
• Handle cash, e-wallet, and card payments; issue receipts and maintain precise change.
• Conduct daily opening and closing float balance, reconciliations, and cash drop procedures.
• Maintain accurate sales logs and report any discrepancies to the operations supervisor.

2. Counter Service & Operations

• Assist in setting up serving counters, food display areas, and beverage stations prior to peak meal shifts.
• Greet customers, answer basic questions about menu items, and serve meals efficiently to maintain fast-moving queues.
• Monitor counter food supplies and communicate replenishment needs to the kitchen team.

3. Cleanliness & Hygiene

• Maintain strict standards of food safety, hygiene, and personal grooming.
• Ensure cash counters, dining area tables, and service stations remain clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the shift.
• Clear trays, dispose of waste, and assist in keeping the dining area neat between shift rushes.

4. Stock & Inventory Support

• Assist in monitoring stock levels of beverage items, packaged snacks, cutlery, and cashier supplies (receipt rolls, packaging).
• Report damaged or expired products to management promptly.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cashier, Service Staff, or Food & Beverage Assistant preferred.
• Basic arithmetic skills and comfortable handling daily cash and digital payment apps.
• Strong sense of responsibility, honesty, and punctuality.
• Good communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment during peak meal hours.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene guidelines (valid typhoid vaccination/food handler certificate is an advantage).
