We have an Immediate Opening Database Administrator – IBM Db2 & MySQL (HA/DR) with our reputed Client.

Client Location Klang / Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Experience: 3+ years

Role purpose

Manage and support the database environment for the Digital Banking System and Digital PIN application, ensuring database availability, performance, security, and recoverability through high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) operations.

Technical environment

• Applications: Digital Banking System and Digital PIN application (Windows)

• Database technologies: IBM Db2 and MySQL

• Operating systems: Mainly Linux, covering four servers, with additional Windows servers

• Architecture: Fully on-premises and virtualized

• Linux virtualization: QEMU

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot IBM Db2 and MySQL databases supporting both application

systems.

• Configure, monitor, and maintain Db2 HADR and the applicable MySQL replication and HA/DR

arrangements.

• Monitor database health, replication status, performance, capacity, and availability.

• Investigate database incidents, replication failures, connectivity issues, slow queries, and application related database errors.

• Perform database performance tuning, including SQL, indexes, configuration, and resource utilization.

• Manage database backups, retention, restoration, and recovery testing.

• Plan and execute controlled failover, failback, and disaster recovery exercises against agreed recovery objectives.

• Apply database patches, upgrades, and configuration changes through approved change management

procedures.

• Manage database access, privileges, audit settings, and security controls.

• Work with application, infrastructure, Windows, Linux, and virtualization teams to resolve issues and maintain service continuity.

• Maintain technical documentation, recovery procedures, operational runbooks, and incident reports.

• Support scheduled maintenance and critical incident response outside normal working hours as required.

Mandatory Requirements

• IBM Db2 certification is mandatory. Candidates must provide evidence of a relevant IBM-issued Db2

certification.

• Hands-on experience administering production IBM Db2 and MySQL databases.

• Practical experience with Db2 HADR, including monitoring, troubleshooting, takeover, and recovery.

• Experience with MySQL replication and high availability or disaster recovery configurations.

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, with working knowledge of Windows Server.

• Experience supporting databases in fully on-premises, virtual machine environments.

• Understanding of QEMU-based virtualization and its impact on database storage, networking, and

performance.

• Proven ability to perform backup restoration, database recovery, performance tuning, and incident

resolution.

• Familiarity with change management, access controls, and production support procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting digital banking, financial services, or other business-critical applications.

• Experience coordinating recovery activities across databases, applications, and infrastructure.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools and scripting to automate routine database operations.
