About the role

Angullia Beach House is seeking an experienced Senior Barista to join our dynamic hospitality team in Bandar Marang, Terengganu. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional coffee experiences to our guests. As a Senior Barista, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, leading beverage service standards, and mentoring junior staff members. Your expertise and passion for coffee will be instrumental in establishing Angullia Beach House as a destination for coffee enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, whilst maintaining the warm and welcoming atmosphere our establishment is known for.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and serving a wide range of specialty coffee drinks, espresso-based beverages, and other hot and cold drinks to the highest standard

• Operating and maintaining espresso machines, grinders and other specialised coffee equipment to ensure consistent quality and optimal performance

• Training, mentoring and supervising junior baristas and beverage staff, ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices

• Managing inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other beverage supplies, placing orders as needed and maintaining stock levels

• Creating innovative drinks and seasonal specials that align with customer preferences and current beverage trends

• Providing excellent customer service, taking orders accurately, and delivering beverages promptly whilst maintaining a friendly and professional demeanour

• Maintaining exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards in the bar and beverage preparation areas in compliance with health and safety regulations

• Processing payments and managing the till accurately, handling cash transactions and recording sales information

• Collaborating with front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction

• Staying current with coffee industry trends, techniques and certifications to continuously enhance knowledge and skills

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3-5 years of professional barista experience, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity

• Extensive knowledge of coffee origins, roasts, brewing methods and flavour profiles

• Proven expertise in operating espresso machines and grinders, with the ability to diagnose and perform basic maintenance

• Strong understanding of milk steaming techniques and the ability to create latte art consistently

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff effectively

• Barista certification or relevant qualifications from recognised coffee organisations (e.g., SCA, SCAE or equivalent)

• Passionate about coffee quality and customer service, with a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail and consistency

• Physical fitness and stamina to stand for extended periods and carry out manual tasks

• Strong organisational and time management skills, particularly during peak service hours

• Flexibility to work shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and potential weekend availability
