About the role
Advise clients on interior design solutions that balance functionality, aesthetics, budget and buildability. The Design Consultant converts client requirements into space planning, CAD-based layouts, material proposals, design presentations and commercial proposals, while securing client endorsement, sales achievement and smooth project handover within an interior design and build environment.
Key responsibilities
- Engage clients to identify design needs, space requirements, style preferences, budget expectations and decision criteria.
- Develop space planning layouts, CAD drawings and design proposals that match client requirements, project constraints and company standards.
- Present company portfolio, design process, service scope, layout plans, material proposals and 3D perspectives with clear design rationale.
- Secure client endorsement for design proposals, material boards, setting plans, perspective drawings and quotation acceptance.
- Prepare accurate quotations based on approved design direction, client specifications, material selections and scope requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, scope and contract conditions with clients to achieve commercially sound agreements.
- Generate qualified sales leads through client engagement, referrals, follow-ups and market opportunities.
- Achieve assigned sales target through effective client conversion, quotation follow-up and proposal closure.
- Resolve design, budget and site-related concerns by proposing practical solutions that protect client satisfaction and project feasibility.
- Transfer approved design information, quotation details and client requirements clearly for drawing development, procurement planning and project execution.
About you
- Demonstrate 3–8 years of relevant working experience in interior design, design consultation, sales design or commercial design and build.
- Use AutoCAD for space planning, layout development and client proposal preparation.
- Apply strong presentation skills to explain design concepts, material proposals and project value to clients.
- Use strong social skills to build trust, handle client concerns and close design proposals professionally.
- Comfortable attending client entertainment and networking events.
- Understand interior design materials, budget control, client requirements and practical site constraints.
- Work with design software such as SketchUp, 3D Max, V-Ray, Lumion or other relevant tools where required.
