Overview


We are seeking an experienced Principal Subsea Umbilical & Controls Engineer to support subsea engineering activities across Conceptual Studies, FEED, Detailed Design, Tendering, EPCI, Installation and Commissioning projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery of subsea umbilical systems, vendor management, engineering reviews, and offshore installation support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical scope for subsea umbilical systems, including specification, selection, routing, and integration with subsea control systems.
  • Manage umbilical engineering activities through design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, delivery, and installation phases.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables including specifications, procedures, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals, conduct bid evaluations, and provide technical recommendations.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering disciplines to ensure technical alignment and project execution.
  • Support HAZID, HAZOP, technical risk assessments, and project planning activities.
  • Provide engineering support during offshore installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Review qualification testing, FAT/SIT activities, manufacturing records, and non-conformance resolutions.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in subsea umbilical engineering within offshore oil & gas projects.
  • Proven experience in:
  • Umbilical specification and procurement
  • Bid evaluation and vendor management
  • Umbilical manufacturing and testing
  • Installation and commissioning support
  • Strong knowledge of subsea control systems, SURF architecture, SPS equipment, and topside interfaces.
  • Familiarity with API 17E and related standards including ASME, ASTM, DNV and NACE.
  • Experience working directly with umbilical suppliers and package vendors is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Deepwater subsea developments.
  • FEED, EPCI and offshore installation projects.
  • Umbilical qualification and verification testing.
  • HAZID, HAZOP and technical risk management studies.


Location: Malaysia

Contract: 12 Months Renewable
