HEAD OF FINANCE

About OUR CLIENT

OUR CLIENT is a Malaysia-based group with operations across multiple business activities and corporate entities. The organisation is looking for a senior finance leader to provide both commercial financial oversight and corporate governance leadership across the Group.

This is not purely an accounting role. The position will work closely with senior management, Sales, Operations, auditors and external professional advisers to provide an independent view of profitability, financial performance, business risk, cash flow and capital allocation.

The role will also have exposure to SGX-related compliance and governance matters, making experience within an SGX-listed environment particularly valuable.

The Role

We are looking for a Head of Finance who can combine strong financial leadership with commercial judgement and governance oversight.

You will be responsible for challenging financial assumptions, identifying profitability opportunities, overseeing financial planning and ensuring appropriate governance and internal controls across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

Business Performance & Profitability

• Monitor Group revenue, gross margin, operating costs, profitability and cash flow.
• Analyse profitability across different businesses, entities and projects and identify factors affecting the bottom line.
• Challenge budgets, forecasts, financial assumptions and business plans.
• Recommend corrective actions where financial performance deviates from expectations.
• Review major business proposals, investments, contracts and commitments from a financial and risk perspective.
• Identify margin leakage and assess the financial impact of major customer deals, contracts and projects.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to balance revenue growth with sustainable margins.
• Evaluate pricing, commercial structures, credit exposure and profitability of major business opportunities.
• Provide financial input and advice on commercial contracts and agreements, working alongside legal advisers where required.

Financial & Governance Oversight

• Review management accounts and financial information prepared by the accounting team.
• Challenge significant variances, unusual items and key financial movements.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, working capital, cash flow, treasury and capital allocation.
• Maintain appropriate financial controls and Enterprise Risk Management processes.
• Oversee SGX-related compliance, continuous disclosure requirements, IPTs and key corporate governance matters.
• Coordinate with auditors, SGX, Company Secretary and external professional advisers.
• Ensure financial reporting and governance processes remain aligned with applicable requirements.
• Provide senior management with an independent assessment of financial performance, business risks and actions required to improve profitability.

Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business or equivalent.
• Professional qualification such as CA Singapore, CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Strong experience across financial reporting, FP&A, commercial finance, audit and/or financial risk.
• Strong understanding of SFRS(I) / IFRS.
• Strong commercial understanding of pricing, margins, credit risk, working capital and profitability.
• Experience with SGX-listed companies is highly preferred.
• Practical understanding of SGX requirements, continuous disclosure, IPTs and corporate governance.
• Strong ability to analyse financial performance and challenge business assumptions.
• Ability to work with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong communication, analytical and commercial decision-support skills.

• Malaysia-based role
• Kuala Lumpur / Bukit Jalil: priority location
• Kulai, Johor: secondary location
• Full-time position
• Benefits are negotiable directly with OUR CLIENT's management.

Salary

RM15,000–20,000 per month

There is limited flexibility for an exceptionally strong match.
