Your Mission

You will be part of a growing team building software for the air charter business. This isn't a greenfield, build-it-from-nothing role, there's tooling and a Playwright suite in place, which means you'll need to get up to speed quickly, assess what we already have, and take ownership of the Quality Assurance (“QA”) process with the support of the Head of Technology. You'll start hands-on, testing features while maintaining and extending automation. You’ll also be reviewing and evolving the QA process, tooling, and standards as needed.

You'll need to ensure quality end-to-end: how we define “done,” how we test, what we automate, help report on quality and risk, and decide how QA utilises our release pipeline alongside engineering.

What You’ll Do

As the Senior QA Engineer, you will own and drive the quality function across our products. You will be responsible for defining QA standards, improving testing processes, managing automation efforts, and ensuring quality remains a key consideration throughout the product development lifecycle.

Own the QA function

• Own and continuously improve the QA strategy, processes, standards, and best practices.
• Define test planning approaches, release sign-off criteria, and quality gates.
• Establish risk-based testing frameworks and prioritization methodologies.
• Drive quality initiatives across Product and Engineering teams.
• Act as the primary advocate for quality during planning, development, and release discussions.
• Evaluate existing QA practices and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and product quality

Test, hands-on

• Perform manual exploratory, functional, regression, and UAT-support testing across the Requester App and Carrier App (React front ends, AWS-hosted backend services).
• Write, maintain, and extend automated test suites in Playwright, building on and consolidating our existing (currently patchy) coverage into a coherent, maintainable framework.
• Use BrowserStack for cross-browser/cross-device testing.
• Integrate automated tests into our BitBucket pipelines so testing runs continuously, not just before release.
• Manage creation of bug tickets in Jira and retesting

Report and communicate

• Produce clear, actionable QA reporting for engineering and leadership: test coverage, defect trends, release risk/readiness, and quality metrics over time.
• Be the voice of quality in planning and release conversations, flagging risk early, not just logging bugs late.

Profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, or improving QA processes and testing strategies.
• Strong experience with both manual and automated testing.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar automation frameworks.
• Experience testing React-based web applications.
• Experience with cross-browser/device testing tools (BrowserStack or equivalent).
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (BitBucket Pipelines or equivalent, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.).
• Comfortable working across both manual and automated testing; this role isn't purely a test-automation engineer or purely a manual tester.
• Experience testing applications backed by cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent); understanding how backend/API behaviour affects front-end testing.
• Clear, confident communicator; able to translate testing results into reporting that's useful to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Able to quickly get up to speed on an existing codebase, test suite, and confident making judgment calls about what to keep, fix, or replace.
• Comfortable being the sole QA initially: self-directed, able to seek out information from any colleague, able to take ownership of existing processes and reshape it as needed

Nice to have

• Experience in logistics, aviation, cargo, freight, or other operationally complex B2B SaaS environments.
• Experience working within international and distributed teams.
• Experience mentoring junior QA engineers.
