Procurement Team Lead

Reporting to: Regional Manager, Procurement
Lead a procurement team responsible for day-to-day sourcing and purchasing. You will coordinate team priorities, coach staff and work with suppliers and internal departments to keep production supplied while improving cost, delivery and supplier performance.
What you will do
- Lead sourcing and purchasing activities for assigned materials, equipment and services within delegated authority.
- Review purchase requisitions and quotations, negotiate supplier terms, and approve or process purchase orders as authorised.
- Monitor prices, spending and savings opportunities, and support alternative sourcing for critical items.
- Work with suppliers, Engineering, Quality, Production and Finance to resolve shortages, quality concerns, delivery delays and invoice discrepancies.
- Support supplier selection, onboarding, qualification, performance reviews and audits.
- Allocate work, guide procurement staff, review performance and follow up on outstanding purchasing matters.
- Improve procurement reports, records and work procedures.
- Support the Regional Manager, Procurement in planning, supply risk management and improvement projects.
What you bring
- A Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement or a related field.
- At least five years of procurement, purchasing or sourcing experience, including two years leading or supervising a team in manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in direct material purchasing, supplier negotiation, purchase order management and delivery follow-up.
- Ability to organise team workloads, coach staff and resolve daily purchasing issues.
- Strong Excel and ERP or procurement system skills.
- Sound commercial judgement and clear communication with suppliers and internal teams.
- Experience in plastics, rubber, foam or contract manufacturing is an advantage.
- Applicants must be legally authorised to work in Malaysia without employer-sponsored work permits. The company does not provide visa or work permit sponsorship for this position.
