Role Description

The Assistant Director of Finance at Sheraton Kota Kinabalu is a full-time, on-site role responsible for supporting the hotel’s financial management and strategic planning. This position oversees the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial reports and statements, ensuring compliance with Marriott International standards and local regulations. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with budgeting and forecasting, monitoring revenue and expense performance, and providing financial insights to support operational and commercial decisions. The role collaborates closely with department heads to optimize financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and drive cost-efficiency without compromising guest experience. The Assistant Director of Finance also helps lead the finance team, supports audits, and contributes to continuous improvement of financial systems and procedures.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Finance and Analytical Skills to interpret data, support decision-making, and guide financial performance.
• Candidates should possess skills in Financial Planning and Financial Reporting to manage budgets, forecasts, and periodic financial reviews.
• Candidates should possess skills in Financial Statements to prepare, analyze, and ensure accuracy of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Relevant academic qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) are an advantage.
• Experience in hospitality or service-oriented industries, familiarity with hotel finance systems, and knowledge of local financial regulations and tax requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and mentor team members.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and proficiency with financial software and Microsoft Excel.
