Job Purpose

To ensure that products meet customer drawings, specifications, and company quality requirements throughout the manufacturing process. The IPQC is responsible for carrying out first-piece and in-process inspections, identifying quality abnormalities, controlling non-conforming products, and supporting production to maintain consistent product quality.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. First Piece Inspection

  • Perform first-piece / first-off inspection before mass production continues.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, appearance, threads, holes, and other drawing requirements.
  • Ensure the correct drawing revision, specification, and inspection criteria are being used.
  • Confirm inspection results and inform Production when the first piece is accepted or rejected.

B. In-Process Inspection

  • Conduct in-process inspections according to the inspection plan, control plan, drawing, work instruction, or sampling frequency.
  • Monitor critical dimensions during machining to ensure the process remains within specification.
  • Carry out random or scheduled inspections at production machines.
  • Check workmanship and visual appearance for defects such as scratches, dents, burrs, tool marks, damage, or contamination.
  • Verify operators are performing required self-inspection where applicable.

C. Measuring Equipment

  • Use appropriate measuring instruments such as:
  • Vernier caliper
  • Micrometer
  • Height gauge
  • Pin gauge
  • Thread plug / ring gauge
  • Bore gauge
  • Profile projector
  • CMM or other measuring equipment where trained
  • Ensure measuring equipment is within valid calibration status before use.
  • Handle and maintain measuring equipment properly.

D. Quality Documentation

  • Record inspection results accurately in inspection reports and quality records.
  • Maintain traceability of inspected parts, including part number, lot/batch number, machine, operator, and inspection status where required.
  • Ensure quality records are complete, clear, and properly maintained.
  • Report any abnormal or out-of-specification results to the relevant QA and Production personnel.

E. Non-Conforming Product Control

  • Identify and segregate non-conforming or suspected parts.
  • Clearly identify parts as OK, Hold, Reject, Rework, or Pending Inspection according to company procedures.
  • Prevent rejected or suspected parts from being mixed with accepted products.
  • Raise or assist in preparing NCR / non-conformance records when required.
  • Support investigation and follow-up of quality problems.

F. Production Quality Support

  • Inform Production Supervisor, QA Engineer, or relevant personnel immediately when abnormalities are detected.
  • Support Production in identifying possible causes of dimensional or quality problems.
  • Reinspect parts after machine adjustment, tool change, rework, or corrective action.
  • Confirm product quality before production resumes when required.
  • Monitor recurring defects and escalate repeated quality issues.

G. Quality System & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow company Quality Management System procedures and work instructions.
  • Support ISO 9001 and customer quality requirements.
  • Participate in corrective action, preventive action, MRB, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities when required.
  • Support internal and external audits when necessary.
  • Maintain good 5S and housekeeping within the inspection and production areas.

Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum SPM / Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field.
  • Experience in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Fresh graduates with suitable technical knowledge may also be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances is required.
  • Experience using measuring instruments is preferred.

Pay: RM1,900.00 - RM2,200.00 per month
