About the Role:
In this role, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that all applications received from the Sales and Business Development team are properly filtered through an ever-sophisticated credit scoring system, keeping in line with CapBay’s mission to provide smart and inclusive financing to SMEs whilst maintaining investors’ trust in us.
Key Responsibility:
- Provide credit evaluation on financing applications submitted by Business Units covering risk assessment, review appropriate facility structuring, and etc. This includes completion of credit papers / memos / term sheets for submission to relevant approving authority / Credit Committee for decision.
- Assess specialised financing applications, including embedded finance, supply chain finance, and programme-based financing, by evaluating the strength of anchor buyers, transaction cash flows, and underlying commercial relationships in addition to traditional financial analysis.
- Provide financial projections or sensitivity analysis for credit evaluation where necessary.
- Monitor loan portfolio repayments as well as conduct periodic credit review on accounts.
- Support development and enhancement of credit risk methodologies including Expected Credit Loss (ECL), Probability of Default (PD), portfolio segmentation, and credit scoring frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with Business, Product, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams to support process improvements, product enhancements, and business growth initiatives.
- Provide credit risk insights and input on new financing products, partnerships, and portfolio expansion initiatives.
- Assess requests for amendments, restructurings, renewals, and variations to existing credit facilities, ensuring continued credit quality and policy compliance.
- Monitor and review the performance of approved credit portfolios, identify emerging risks or deterioration trends, and recommend appropriate remedial or risk mitigation actions.
- Analyse the root causes of delinquent or underperforming accounts and provide recommendations to enhance credit policies, underwriting standards, and portfolio risk management.
- Mentor and technically develop junior credit team members
- Stay abreast of market developments, industry trends, and regulatory changes to ensure sound credit decisions and continuous enhancement of credit risk practices.
Key Qualifications and Requirements:
We are looking for someone with:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Retail Business / SME / Commercial credit analysis OR SME/Biz banking sales-relationship management experience.
- Minimum a recognised Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- Knowledge of ECL methodologies and credit modelling techniques, with exposure to PD, LGD, scorecards, and data-driven credit assessment in a banking or fintech environment.
- Equipped professional experience in Finance or Credit Analysis and/or with qualification in Credit Certified Professional (CCP)/ Professional Credit Certification -CCE/BCP from AICB /Omega CSA will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with good grasp of financial analysis and cash flow projections.
