We’re Hiring: Assistant Vice President I – Head of Project Management Unit (PMU)

Are you a hands-on leader with strong experience in business transformation, consulting, and project delivery?

Join Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) as the Assistant Vice President I – Head of Project Management Unit (PMU) and lead high-impact transformation and advisory initiatives that shape Malaysia’s technology ecosystem.

This is not a routine coordination role. The successful candidate must be able to understand complex business issues, design practical transformation plans, lead teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the PMU team and manage project managers/project personnel.
• Lead and support business transformation and consultancy projects.
• Develop transformation roadmaps, implementation plans, KPIs and project deliverables.
• Manage project timelines, budget, risks, documentation and reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, internal departments and stakeholders.
• Ensure projects comply with governance, approval, procurement and reporting requirements.
• Track project outcomes, final reports, evidence packs and revenue-recognition documents.
• Coach the team, manage performance and build strong project delivery discipline.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Business, Management, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Project Management or related field.
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience.
• At least 5 years’ hands-on experience in business transformation, management consulting or advisory work.
• At least 3 years’ experience managing people or leading project teams.
• Strong project management skills, especially in budget, timeline, risk, scope and stakeholder control.
• Able to prepare dashboards, reports, management updates and project documentation.
• Good communication, leadership, problem-solving and client management skills.
• PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Change Management or Train-the-Trainer certification is an advantage.

️ Important Note

Candidates with experience limited to general administration, coordination, or secretariat roles may not be suitable. This role requires a leader who can drive consulting-type projects and manage people effectively.
