JOB TITLE: SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER (PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will teach French to learners across the Secondary School. They will support learners in developing proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening, alongside a strong understanding of French language and grammar.
The successful candidate will use inclusive teaching practices that promote learner agency, wellbeing and academic progress. They will draw on a range of effective pedagogical approaches, including inquiry, explicit instruction, modelling and structured practice, to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge all learners. They will support learners in becoming confident, self-regulated and lifelong learners who can communicate effectively in written and spoken French.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employing effective pedagogy and pastoral care to enable learners to achieve personal excellence and become successful, self-regulated learners by:

• Building positive, learning-focused relationships with learners
• Being accountable for learners’ academic, social and emotional progress
• Using appropriate formative and summative assessment strategies to support learning and measure progress
• Recording and using assessment information effectively to monitor learners and plan for progression
• Collaborating with colleagues to support learners’ progression through the MYP and provide pathways that enable them to continue studying languages through to the IBDP
• Providing high-quality scaffolding and feedback that encourages learners to reflect on and take ownership of their learning
• Involving parents and carers in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent–teacher dialogue
• Using technology purposefully to enhance learning, communication, creativity and problem-solving
• Contributing to whole-school events and activities as required
• Modelling the skills, attitudes and values associated with global citizenship through personal and professional conduct
• Proactively safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all learners
• Undertaking the role of tutor as assigned and collaborating effectively with the relevant Year Leader
• Teach other subjects as requested
• Fulfill extra responsibilities as requested, including but not limited to CCAs, excursions/camps, and supervision duties

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• A relevant degree
• A recognised teaching qualification or equivalent
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development
• Experience teaching learners with diverse learning needs
• At least two years’ teaching experience, with experience in an international school environment preferred
• Relevant curriculum experience; experience with the IB Middle Years Programme and/or Diploma Programme would be an advantage
• Strong French language proficiency
• A collaborative, reflective and learner-centred approach to teaching
