Purpose of the Job

 

The Global Key Account Manager / Sector Head is responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with key customers across a global portfolio, acting as a trusted partner to drive long term value and growth. This role involves understanding the unique needs of each customer, delivering tailored logistics and supply chain solutions, and driving revenue growth through effective account management. The Global Key Account Manager / Sector Head collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure service excellence and alignment with client objectives by acting as the primary point of contact for key accounts.

 

Job Description

 

• Own and develop strategic relationships with key global/regional accounts, acting as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor to drive long-term partnerships and customer loyalty.
• Design and execute account strategies and plans to achieve revenue growth, profitability, and customer retention targets.
• Drive revenue expansion (profitable growth) through proactive identification of upselling, cross-selling, and new business opportunities within assigned accounts.
• Understand customer business models and supply chain needs, delivering tailored logistics solutions that create value and competitive advantage.
• Lead contract management and commercial negotiations, ensuring competitive pricing, sustainable margins, and full compliance with contractual agreements and SLAs.
• Monitor and manage account performance, including revenue, profitability, and service metrics, providing regular insights and performance reviews to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct periodic business reviews (QBRs/MBRs) to assess performance, align on strategic priorities, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally (operations, products, finance, marketing etc) to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment with customer commitments.
• Enable operational excellence and service reliability, proactively identifying, escalating, and resolving issues to maintain high customer satisfaction.
• Leverage customer insights and feedback to drive service enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with marketing teams to develop and execute targeted campaigns and value propositions for key accounts.
• Maintain oversight of account financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking to ensure alignment with business targets.
• Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform account strategies and strengthen market positioning.
• Act as a brand ambassador, representing the company at industry events, customer engagements, and trade forums.
• Promote a customer-centric culture, driving best practices in account management and contributing to overall capability development within the team.

 

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field.
• 7-9 year’ experience in account management or sales, preferably in logistics or supply chain.
• Sector knowledge and experience will be an added strong advantage. 
• MBA or relevant professional certifications is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
• Proven track record of managing key accounts and driving revenue growth.
• Experience in developing strategic partnerships with clients.
• Familiarity with global market trends and customer needs.
