About the Role
We are seeking a driven and meticulous Project Engineer (Piping & Mechanical). In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end engineering coordination, procurement support, site execution, and commissioning of process piping systems, clean utilities, and mechanical equipment packages for critical pharmaceutical, biotech, and chemical projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution & Coordination: Lead and oversee the day-to-day execution of process piping and mechanical installation works, ensuring strict compliance with project timelines, budget, and engineering standards.
- Technical Review & Redlines: Review and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Piping Isometrics, and equipment layouts. Coordinate technical queries and implement engineering redline updates with the drafting team.
- Procurement & Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE): Prepare accurate Material Take-Offs (MTO) for piping, valves, inline instruments, and specialty components. Perform Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and liaise with vendors and suppliers.
- Subcontractor & Site Management: Supervise and coordinate sub-contractors and fabricators on-site. Manage daily work plans, 2-week lookahead schedules, Permit-To-Work (PTW) applications, and resolve site clashes/tie-in interfaces.
- Quality Control & Commissioning: Coordinate inspection and testing activities, including line walks, weld inspections (orbital/manual), NDT records, hydrotesting/pneumatic testing packages, and system flushing.
- Documentation & Handover: Maintain strict compliance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Consolidate handover dossiers, testing certificates, and As-Built drawings for client validation.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- Project Engineer: 3–5 years of hands-on project engineering experience in EPCM, pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, or process plant facilities.
- Junior Project Engineer: 1–2 years of relevant site execution/piping coordination experience (energetic fresh graduates with strong internship exposure in process plants are welcome to apply).
- Technical Competencies:
- Solid understanding of process piping, hygienic/clean utility systems (SS316L, WFI, CIP/SIP), and mechanical equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, modular skids).
- Proficient in reading P&IDs, piping isometric spools, and plant layout drawings.
- Working knowledge of piping standards (ASME B31.3, ASME BPE) and Singapore Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) regulations.
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and basic CAD navigation (AutoCAD / Navisworks) is an added advantage.
