PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT DIRECTOR APPEAL & LEGAL ADVISORY DIVISION

Candidates applying for the position must possess the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours recognized by the Government from a local higher education institution, or a recognized equivalent qualification.

Additional Requirements:

1. Candidates must possess a minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in the legal field. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of competition policy and laws, whether domestically in Malaysia or internationally;
2. Candidates must possess knowledge of Government policies, including experience interfacing with Government departments and agencies;
3. Candidates must demonstrate excellent writing and communication capabilities in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. Proficiency in a third language is considered an added advantage;
4. Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills; and
5. Candidates must be proficient in leading teams and capable of cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders at various levels.

In addition to the required relevant experience and mass communication knowledge, candidates should portray the following:

• Committed and dedicated to organizational goals and objectives;
• Strong interpersonal skills such as negotiating, problem-solving, and knowledge-sharing; and
• Ability to work under pressure with the right attitude, strong integrity, upholds teamwork principle, highly resilient with professional character.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for providing advice on legal issues to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Federal Constitution, procedures, and/or legal ethics;
2. Responsible for providing advice on any proposed regulatory or legislative amendments relating to the Competition Commission or the implementation of the Competition Act 2010;
3. Responsible for providing advice concerning the jurisdiction and theoretical powers of the Competition Commission, as well as preparing responses or feedback regarding the Commission's actions;
4. Responsible for coordinating relationships between the Competition Commission and the Attorney General's Chambers, alongside managing legal matters at national and international levels;
5. Responsible for conducting prosecutions in cases related to competition issues;
6. Advising the Competition Commission during any meetings or negotiations domestically and internationally;
7. Responsible for representing the Competition Commission in cases related to competition issues at the national or international level;
8. Preparing and managing the annual budget for the division; and
9. Perform any additional tasks as assigned by HOD/CEO as needed.
