JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Utilize SolidWorks or Solid Edge Software to produce a design of an equipment for requestor needs.

• To construct 3D part designs according to the specified equipment requirements.
• To construct assembly designs to ensure proper integration and functionality of equipment components.
• To construct and interpret drafting designs accurately according to engineering requirements.
• To generate AutoCAD drawings as references for suppliers during the fabrication process.

2. Involve in R&D of equipment according to requestor requirement.

• To generate the Design Requirements during concept discussions and meetings based on the requestor’s needs and project requirements.
• To ensure the completion and proper documentation of all R&D-related documents throughout the equipment development process.
• To interpret and carry out work in accordance with the department’s SOPs and established procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent academic qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in mechanical design, equipment development or R&D.
• Experience or working knowledge in SolidWorks or Solid Edge for 3D part, assembly and mechanical equipment design.
• Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD for technical drawing and drafting.
• Experience in dealing with fabricators and suppliers, particularly in CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical equipment development, fabrication and testing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to prepare and maintain technical and R&D-related documentation.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, design requirements and technical specifications.
• Ability to understand and follow departmental SOPs and work procedures.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Mechanical Design & 3D Modelling – Proficient in developing 3D part and assembly designs using SolidWorks or Solid Edge.
• Technical Drawing & Drafting – Able to produce, interpret and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and relevant drafting standards.
• Problem Solving & Engineering Analysis – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify design issues, conduct testing and implement suitable improvements.
• R&D and Product Development – Able to translate user/requestor requirements into practical equipment concepts, designs and prototypes.
• Communication & Teamwork – Able to work effectively with internal departments, suppliers, fabricators and other stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail – Strong attention to accuracy, safety, functionality and quality throughout the design and development process.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• The position involves regular interaction with internal departments, suppliers and fabricators to support equipment design, fabrication, testing and rectification activities.
• The engineer is required to make regular visits to the PKFZ warehouse to support equipment, project and operational requirements.
• Domestic and international travel is required for supplier and fabricator visits, site visits, project locations, equipment installation, testing and other business-related activities as required.
• The role requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the R&D team and other departments.
• Candidates should be willing to learn and continuously improve their knowledge of mechanical design, equipment development, fabrication processes and engineering practices.
• Experience with CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and equipment development will be an added advantage.
• Candidates should be able to prepare and maintain R&D, design, testing and technical documentation in accordance with company SOPs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
