Job Description
Esmera Global Solutions is seeking a Junior Data Engineer for a short-term assignment.
The Junior Data Engineer will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, ETL workflows and reporting solutions under the guidance of experienced data specialists.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will develop and maintain ETL scripts and workflows for data extraction, transformation and loading.
The role includes writing and optimising SQL queries supporting reporting, dashboarding and data requests.
The Junior Data Engineer will assist with dashboards, reports and business-intelligence data preparation and will support data cleansing, standardisation and validation activities.
The candidate will monitor scheduled data jobs and escalate issues where required.
The role also involves assisting with the validation and migration of business logic across data systems, documenting data processes, scripts and pipeline configurations, and participating in testing and quality assurance of data-pipeline changes.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in ETL, Data Engineering or Data Analytics support is required.
Candidates should have working knowledge of SQL and at least basic proficiency in Python.
Exposure to ETL and data-pipeline tools and BI or reporting platforms is expected.
Candidates should have a good understanding of relational database concepts.
Strong attention to detail, communication skills and willingness to develop further within a Data Engineering environment are required.
Relevant Technologies and Tools
SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Python, Pandas, dbt, Apache Superset, Power BI, Talend Open Studio, AWS S3, AWS Glue and Git.
