Position: Senior Database Administrator

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and
support databases used for a company’s project in various industry.
The role will be responsible for database administration, application data
management, performance, security, backup and recovery, and development
environment support. As the project involves highly confidential software development
information which includes government project, the candidate must maintain strict
confidentiality and comply with all applicable security and data protection requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain databases across Development, SIT, UAT, Staging, and
Production environments.
- Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance,
and monitoring.
- Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access controls.
- Support software developers, QA, DevOps, and application teams on database-
related requirements.
- Create and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, views, stored
procedures, and other database objects.
- Support application data migration, data refresh, deployment, and
synchronization activities.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, capacity, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot database, SQL, connectivity, and application data issues.
- Implement and maintain database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery
procedures.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, integrity, and availability.
- Apply appropriate controls for sensitive data, including access restrictions and
data masking/anonymization where required.
- Maintain database documentation, configuration records, access records, and
operational procedures.
- Support security audits, compliance reviews, incident management, and change
management activities.
- Work closely with technical teams to ensure database changes are properly
tested, approved, and deployed.
Security & Confidentiality Handle highly confidential government, application, and software
development data with the highest level of discretion.
- Ensure data is accessed only by authorized personnel and for approved project
purposes.
- Strictly follow project security policies, access-control procedures, and data
protection requirements.
- Immediately report any suspected unauthorized access, data leakage, or security
incident.
- Maintain confidentiality of project information throughout and after employment.
- Subject to background screening or security clearance where required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software
Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Database Administration.
- Strong experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or
similar relational databases.
- Strong SQL knowledge and database performance-tuning experience.
- Experience supporting software development and application teams.
- Good understanding of database security, access control, backup and recovery.
- Experience with database migration and development lifecycle environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, cloud platforms, or database automation is an
advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, security awareness, and confidentiality.
Good to have:
- Experience in government, banking, financial services, or other highly
regulated environments.
- Experience handling sensitive or classified information.
- Knowledge of data masking, encryption, audit logging, and security hardening.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
