Business Development Executive
We are looking for a self-starting, commercially minded Business Development Executive to drive company growth by uncovering new opportunities, winning new clients, and building lasting relationships with customers and strategic partners.
The role covers the entire business development cycle: sourcing prospects, pitching solutions, negotiating commercial terms, and closing deals. It will suit someone ambitious who enjoys client-facing work, opening up new markets, and hitting measurable revenue goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development and Lead Generation
- Spot and pursue new opportunities across target industries and market segments.
- Source qualified leads through outreach, referrals, networking, digital channels, industry events, and other suitable methods.
- Carry out market research on potential clients, emerging trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
- Keep a healthy pipeline that supports monthly and annual revenue targets.
- Open new accounts while growing business with existing customers.
Client Engagement and Sales Management
- Reach out to prospects, set up meetings, and deliver professional sales presentations.
- Learn each client's business needs, operational pain points, and commercial goals.
- Match the right products, services, or solutions to what each client actually needs.
- Put together proposals, quotations, presentations, and related sales documentation.
- Follow up consistently and run the sales process end to end, from first contact through negotiation to close.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and service arrangements within company policy and with management approval.
- Hand confirmed clients over cleanly to the internal teams responsible for implementation and service delivery.
Relationship and Account Development
- Build strong working relationships with clients, business partners, and key decision-makers.
- Act as the main contact for assigned clients through the business development and onboarding stages.
- Check in regularly to confirm client satisfaction and surface openings for upselling, cross-selling, renewals, or expansion.
- Reply promptly and professionally to client enquiries, concerns, and commercial requests.
- Coordinate with internal teams so client expectations and agreed deliverables are communicated clearly and met.
Sales Strategy and Performance
- Shape and run practical business development and sales strategies that support growth objectives.
- Achieve or beat assigned monthly sales targets, revenue goals, and KPIs.
- Track sales performance, conversion rates, pipeline movement, and client acquisition activity.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, client communications, proposals, follow-ups, and outcomes.
- Produce regular sales forecasts, performance reports, and business development updates for management.
- Join sales meetings and contribute ideas on market positioning, customer acquisition, and revenue performance.
Marketing and Business Support
- Help plan and run marketing campaigns, promotions, exhibitions, networking events, and product launches.
- Work with the marketing team on sales materials, presentations, campaigns, and lead-generation initiatives.
- Feed market observations and client insights back into product, service, pricing, and promotional decisions.
- Represent the company professionally at client meetings, industry events, exhibitions, and networking activities.
- Take on other business development, sales, and related duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Digital Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum two years' experience in business development, sales, marketing, account management, or corporate sales.
- Background in B2B sales, solution selling, hospitality technology, software, services, or corporate account development is an added advantage.
- Proven track record of generating leads, building client relationships, presenting, negotiating terms, and closing deals.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Solid written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages are a plus.
- At ease dealing with business owners, senior management, corporate representatives, and key decision-makers.
- Good commercial judgement, with the ability to read client needs and propose workable solutions.
- Familiarity with digital marketing, social media marketing, online lead generation, or CRM systems is an advantage.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proactive, disciplined, responsible, resourceful, and self-motivated.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating well with internal teams.
- Target-driven and motivated by commissions, incentives, and growth opportunities.
- Capable of juggling multiple prospects, meetings, proposals, and follow-ups efficiently.
- Willing to travel for client meetings, sales appointments, exhibitions, training, and other business needs.
- Valid driving licence and own transport required.
