With the continued growth of our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) project portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Senior Solar Project Engineer to take a leading role in the successful delivery of our solar PV projects.
This is a senior project leadership position for an experienced engineer who can take ownership of projects from engineering and design through procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover, while managing clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
Senior Solar Project Engineer
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Solar Project Engineer to lead the execution of SolarGy's C&I solar PV projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of assigned projects, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, within programme and to the required technical and quality standards.
The role requires strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, project management capabilities and the ability to independently manage multiple stakeholders and project interfaces.
Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Delivery
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned C&I solar PV projects.
- Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from design, procurement and construction to testing, commissioning and handover.
- Develop and implement project execution strategies, programmes and delivery plans.
- Lead project engineers, coordinators, site teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor project performance against scope, programme, quality and cost objectives.
- Identify project risks, technical issues and potential delays, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Ensure contractual and project requirements are properly managed and fulfilled.
2. Technical & Engineering Oversight
- Review engineering designs, PV layouts, electrical drawings, calculations, method statements and technical submissions.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Singapore codes, statutory requirements and project specifications.
- Provide technical guidance to project engineers, consultants and subcontractors.
- Review constructability and resolve technical issues during design and construction.
- Coordinate interfaces between the solar PV system and existing building, M&E and electrical systems.
- Support the team in resolving design and site issues efficiently.
3. Planning, Scheduling & Resource Management
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones and work programmes.
- Plan manpower, equipment, materials and subcontractor resources.
- Monitor progress against the baseline programme and implement recovery measures where required.
- Coordinate procurement activities and ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
- Identify resource constraints, long-lead items and potential programme risks.
- Work closely with the project and management teams to optimise project resources and productivity.
4. Site Coordination & Execution
- Lead coordination with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Resolve site technical and coordination issues promptly.
- Coordinate work sequencing and interfaces with other trades.
- Ensure site activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
5. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Take ownership of project QA/QC processes and documentation.
- Ensure works comply with statutory, regulatory and project-specific requirements.
- Lead risk assessment reviews, toolbox meetings and safety briefings where required.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure defects and non-conformities are promptly rectified.
- Maintain proper project documentation and records.
6. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Lead testing and commissioning of solar PV systems.
- Coordinate system performance verification and rectification of commissioning issues.
- Coordinate inspections and approvals with clients, consultants and relevant authorities.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of:
- As-built drawings
- Test and commissioning reports
- O&M manuals
- Training materials
- Handover documentation
- Ensure smooth transition from project completion to operations and maintenance.
7. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact between SolarGy and clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Lead project meetings and technical coordination sessions.
- Prepare and review project progress reports, technical submissions and correspondence.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve project issues professionally.
- Maintain strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree from a recognised tertiary institution in Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in solar PV, EPC, construction or related engineering projects.
- Proven experience managing commercial and industrial solar PV projects of significant scale and complexity.
- Strong understanding of solar PV design, installation, electrical integration, testing and commissioning.
- Good knowledge of relevant Singapore regulatory and technical requirements, including EMA, BCA, SCDF and other applicable authorities.
- Strong project leadership, people management and project delivery capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders and subcontractors effectively.
- Strong problem-solving, coordination, negotiation and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of project outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience managing C&I solar PV projects in Singapore.
- Experience working with main contractors, M&E contractors, consultants and building owners.
- Experience with complex roof structures or non-standard solar installations.
- Experience with solar monitoring systems, performance analysis and project reporting.
