Job Description — Vehicle Inspector

Position: Vehicle Inspector
Department: Vehicle Inspection / Operations
Work Location: Serdang / Semenyih and customer locations as required

Job Purpose

The Vehicle Inspector is responsible for conducting accurate vehicle identity, condition, and regulatory inspections in accordance with company procedures and applicable JPJ requirements.

The role may be assigned to AATF end-of-life vehicle inspections, including inspections at customer locations and the AATF facility, as well as PPKM vehicle inspections conducted at the company's inspection centre.

The inspector is responsible for ensuring that all vehicle information, photographs, identification numbers, inspection results, and supporting records are accurately captured using the company's systems.

Key Responsibilities

AATF Vehicle Inspection – End-of-Life Vehicles

  • Travel to customer homes, workshops, storage yards, or other vehicle locations to conduct vehicle inspections before collection.
  • Verify the vehicle's chassis number and engine number against the information provided in the company's system and relevant vehicle records.
  • Confirm vehicle identity before proceeding with deregistration-related processes or thumbprint scanning.
  • Inspect vehicles arriving at the AATF facility and reconfirm chassis and engine numbers before processing.
  • Take required photographs of vehicles and upload them accurately into the company's system.
  • Identify and report discrepancies involving chassis numbers, engine numbers, vehicle identity, documentation, or physical vehicle condition.
  • Coordinate with the operations and towing teams to ensure vehicles are cleared for collection and processing.
  • Perform both field-based and facility-based inspections depending on operational requirements.

PPKM Vehicle Inspection

  • Conduct vehicle inspections at the PPKM inspection centre according to applicable JPJ requirements, inspection SOPs, and company procedures.
  • Perform required regulatory inspection procedures, including vehicle identification and other inspection items applicable to the inspection type.
  • Conduct inspections relating to matters such as ownership transfer, vehicle identification, cut-and-joint verification, window tint measurements, controlled components, and other required checks.
  • Capture required photographs, readings, findings, and supporting evidence using the company's inspection system.
  • Ensure inspection results are complete and accurate before submission.
  • Immediately escalate suspected tampering, identification discrepancies, irregularities, or vehicles that do not comply with inspection requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity and impartiality of the vehicle inspection process.

General Responsibilities

  • Follow all company SOPs, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure inspection equipment, mobile devices, cameras, and other assigned tools are properly maintained.
  • Maintain accurate digital records for every vehicle inspected.
  • Protect confidential customer, vehicle, and government-related information.
  • Cooperate with supervisors, administrative staff, towing teams, and other operational departments.
  • Attend training and competency assessments required by the company or relevant authorities.
  • Carry out other vehicle inspection-related duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum SPM / SKM - Candidates with Automotive Education are preffered
  • Basic knowledge of motor vehicles and vehicle components is preferred.
  • Able to identify and locate chassis numbers, engine numbers, and other vehicle identification markings.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, cameras, mobile applications, and digital inspection systems.
  • Able to follow detailed SOPs consistently.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Willing to travel to customer locations when assigned to AATF field inspections.
  • Possess a valid Malaysian driving licence D.
  • Automotive, workshop, inspection, mechanical, or technical experience is an advantage.
  • Training may be provided for suitable candidates.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
