Design & Technical Role: Furniture / Industrial Designer – Job Scope

• Develop and design furniture products based on market trends, customer requirements and company concepts.
• Create product concepts, sketches, 2D drawings and 3D models for new furniture designs.
• Translate design concepts into practical and manufacturable products.
• Select suitable materials, finishes, colours, hardware and components for furniture products.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications and design documentation for production.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, R&D and suppliers to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing.
• Develop prototypes and samples, conduct design reviews and make improvements based on testing and feedback.
• Ensure products meet requirements for functionality, durability, aesthetics, quality and cost.
• Modify and improve existing furniture designs based on customer feedback and production requirements.
• Conduct market and competitor research to identify new furniture design trends and product opportunities.
• Support new product development (NPD) from concept development through to mass production.
• Resolve design and technical issues during the production process.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings, specifications and product revisions.

To be successful in this role:

• Diploma/Degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, Interior Design or related disciplines.
• 2 years and above of experience in furniture design, product design or industrial design.
• Proficient in 3D modelling and CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
• Experience in designing furniture products such as cabinets or related products is preferred.
