"I just got my payslip. I think there's a small mistake. Why is my salary not matching up with what my boss and I had agreed on during the interview session?" Have you encountered this problem before? Well, the best thing you can do is talk to your employer to find out why. In my opinion, this is the best approach, and if both of you can't agree on the amount that should have been paid to you, challenge them. Act quickly, because once 3 months passes from when the problem started, it'll be hard to get your money back.

How to check if there's any deduction made without me noticing it?

This is the reason why a payslip is important. Once you get your payslip, don't just sign it and throw it away! You should always check your payslip. Not sure what to check? Here's a guide:

1. Whether you've been paid for the number of hours you've actually worked

2. If you've been paid at the correct rate

3. If you've been paid any sick, holiday, maternity pay or any kind of extra pay that you're expecting

4. If your employer has deducted any money without you knowing

As an employee, you have the legal right to get a payslip that will show you how your pay has been worked out. If you don't get any, ask your employer. All problems can be settled through communication. Try to speak informally to your employer or try to speak to your HR or payroll department if there is any. Ask for further details and an explanation to make everything clear. Don't wait any longer! If you have a problem, always speak up immediately and don't wait for the next payday.

"Help me, I haven't been paid for a while"

Perhaps your employer might be having some financial issues but it's temporary. It's not that they don't want to pay you, maybe they're a bit late. If you're happen to be in this situation, usually your HR or person-in-charge will inform you. But if you notice these signs, maybe your employer could never be able to pay you.

1. Nobody explains why you haven't been paid

2. Other employees haven't been paid as well

3. You've heard the rumour that even suppliers haven't been paid

If these things happen, the best way to handle the situation is to seek advice from professionals on whether it's better to leave your job or not. Even if you choose to resign, you still have the right to get the money your employer owes you.
