Job Purpose

The Test Manager is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end testing activities across strategic IT initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure, and reliable technology solutions that meet business and regulatory expectations.

This role is accountable for defining and executing testing strategies, managing test resources, driving quality governance, and ensuring effective defect management throughout the project lifecycle. The Test Manager works closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technology Teams, Vendors, and Business Stakeholders to ensure testing activities are delivered within agreed scope, timelines, and quality standards.

As part of the Testing Centre of Excellence (TCOE), the Test Manager is also expected to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, testing standardization, test automation adoption, and organizational quality transformation efforts. The role may require support during production deployment, implementation activities, and post-go-live validation.

Key Responsibilities

1.Lead and manage the testing team, including test engineers and analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and support to achieve project goals and objectives.

2.Develop and implement effective test strategies, methodologies, and test plans to ensure comprehensive test coverage and adherence to quality standards. This includes collaborating with project manager, business analyst and stakeholders to define testing requirements, scope, and timelines.

3.Plan and allocate resources, including personnel, tools, and environments, to support testing activities and deliverables.

4.Define and maintain test deliverables, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data, ensuring their accuracy, completeness, and relevance.

5.Establish and maintain effective test metrics and reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into the status, progress, and quality of testing efforts. This includes conducting test estimation, tracking, and monitoring activities to ensure timely and efficient execution of testing activities within allocated scope and schedule

6.Collaborate with development teams to facilitate defect triage, root cause analysis, and resolution of issues identified during testing. This includes managing developers / technician to deliver fixes as per agreed SLA and resolving any audit finding issues pertaining to test management during project implementation stage.

7.Act as the primary point of contact for all testing-related matters within assigned projects. Manage stakeholder expectations and provide recommendations regarding testing readiness, project risks, and quality considerations.

8.In charge of overall project testing sign-off and closure reports.

9.Contribute to Testing Centre of Excellence initiatives, standards, methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Professional certifications such as ISTQB, Certified Agile Tester, or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance, with at least 5 years in a Test Manager, Senior Test Manager, or equivalent leadership role in Banking or Financial Services.

Strong experience managing testing activities across large-scale banking and financial services projects.

Proven track record in delivering testing in any of these domains: digital transformation, core banking, cards, payments, lending, channels, treasury, trade finance, or regulatory initiatives.

Experience managing testing teams across multiple concurrent projects and vendor engagements.

Experience supporting production deployment, implementation, and post-go-live activities.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid delivery methodologies.

In-depth understanding of testing methodologies, quality assurance practices, risk-based testing, and test governance frameworks.

Hands-on experience with test management and defect management tools such as OpenText ALM/Quality Center, Jira or equivalent.

Knowledge and familiarity of functional automation testing and performance testing framework would be an added advantage.

Knowledge and familiarity of testing Web, Mobile, API, and Client-Server applications across Windows, Android, and iOS platforms.
