About the role
This is a purchasing role within a growing food distribution company supplying a wide range of frozen and ambient food products to customers across the foodservice, retail, and related sectors.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with daily purchasing activities and ensure timely replenishment of products
- Liaise with local and overseas suppliers on pricing, availability, lead time, orders and deliveries
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) and maintain accurate purchasing records
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse and sales teams to ensure adequate stock availability
- Follow up closely on incoming shipments and supplier deliveries
- Compare supplier quotations and assist in sourcing competitive prices
- Maintain and update supplier, product and pricing information
- Monitor product costs and highlight significant price changes to management
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding product specifications, packaging and quality requirements
- Assist in handling discrepancies relating to quantity, pricing, delivery and product quality
About you
- Diploma or relevant qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field preferred
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain
- Experience dealing with food manufacturers, distributors, importers, or FMCG suppliers will be an added advantage
- Prior working experience in food distribution/ wholesaler company will be beneficial
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Able to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal departments
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Responsible, proactive and able to follow up on tasks timely in a fast-paced environment

(Note: 5.5 workdays alternate Sat off after three months' probation subject to review; work location is at Pandan Road.)
