About Nexstrom
Nexstrom is a Singapore-based deep-tech company building the materials foundation for the next era of semiconductors. Silicon is approaching its physical limits, and the industry's path forward runs through atomically thin 2D semiconductors — materials that until now have lived in research labs, not fabs.
Nexstrom is closing that gap: we grow single-crystal 2D semiconductor wafers on production-ready tools that we built, turning demonstrated lab results into manufacturable technology. We're a small team of scientists and engineers working at the frontier of materials science, and we're looking for people who want to help take a new class of semiconductors from lab to fab.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a highly driven, resourceful, and independent Office Operations Manager who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats.
This is not a traditional office administration role. We want someone who takes initiative, identifies problems and opportunities without being asked, and gets things done with minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Takes ownership: Proactively identifies what needs to be done, follows through, and drives tasks to completion without waiting for instructions.
- Moves fast and gets things done: Is decisive, practical, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Wears multiple hats: Can seamlessly work across procurement, supplier management, finance support, office administration, and general business operations.
- Uses AI as a multiplier: Actively leverages AI, automation, and digital tools to work smarter, streamline processes, and improve productivity.
- Finds solutions, not excuses: Is resourceful, hands-on, and comfortable figuring things out independently, even when faced with unfamiliar challenges.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Manage purchasing activities, including sourcing quotations, issuing purchase orders, coordinating suppliers, and tracking deliveries.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to resolve operational issues, manage costs, and ensure timely fulfilment.
- Coordinate shipping, logistics, customs clearance, and procurement documentation.
2. Office & Business Operations
- Take ownership of day-to-day office operations, administration, and general operational needs.
- Coordinate with external service providers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth business operations.
- Support employee onboarding, company activities, and general HR administration.
- Identify operational gaps, improve internal processes, and independently drive solutions.
3. Finance & Corporate Administration
- Support invoice processing, payment preparation, expense claims, bookkeeping, and financial record keeping.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and corporate service providers.
- Assist with budget tracking, grant administration, insurance, contracts, and corporate documentation.
4. Laboratory & Facilities Support (Good to Have)
- Coordinate office and laboratory maintenance, repairs, utilities, equipment servicing, and facilities-related requirements.
- Liaise with landlords, building management, and technical contractors.
- Support laboratory infrastructure, facility improvements, and office expansion or relocation projects in collaboration with engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant hands-on experience in operations, procurement, or administration, with demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership across multiple functions. We value capability, initiative, and execution over years of experience.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable with Microsoft 365, accounting or procurement systems, and adopting AI and automation tools.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in startups or small, high-growth organisations is a strong advantage.
- Prior exposure to laboratory operations, facilities management, engineering, or manufacturing environments is advantageous but not required.
Above all, we value attitude, ownership, and execution over rigid job descriptions. We are looking for someone who sees what needs to be done, figures out how to do it, and makes it happen.
Why Join Nexstrom
“To change what’s possible, we have to question the limits we’ve accepted.” — Dr. Lance Li, Co-Founder
- Nobody has solved this yet. Growing 2D materials on 12-inch wafers at yields a fab will accept is an open problem the whole industry needs answered — and we are close.
- Real hardware, real wafers, real partners. We shipped commercial wafers in 2026. You will not be building slideware.
- Semiconductor industry depth. Our team and advisors bring experience from TSMC, imec and Applied Materials. In a team our size, you work with them directly, not through three layers.
- Well-backed. Nexstrom is backed by Xora Innovation, SEEDS Capital and Foothill Ventures, with US$15M raised.
- Competitive package with AWS, performance bonus, medical and insurance coverage.
