Great Eastern is expanding how customer data is connected and activated across its MarTech and digital ecosystem, drawing on data from multiple systems, businesses and markets. Salesforce Data Cloud is an important part of this environment, where the reliability, quality and timeliness of data directly influence what downstream customer engagement, analytics and activation capabilities can deliver.

As Data Cloud Engineer, you will engineer the data foundations that make these capabilities work. You will connect Salesforce Data Cloud with the systems and data it depends on, building reliable, scalable and reusable ingestion and integration solutions across markets and entities. The role combines strong data engineering with enterprise integration in a complex and evolving Salesforce data environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement integrations between source systems and Salesforce Data Cloud using appropriate API, event-driven, batch and file-based patterns within enterprise architecture and integration standards.

• Onboard customer, prospect, policy, claims, consent, digital, engagement and other approved datasets into Data Cloud.

• Build and maintain Data Cloud ingestion, transformation and synchronisation components and associated refresh schedules, working with enterprise data teams where upstream pipelines sit outside the Salesforce CoE.

• Design integration patterns and engineering components for reuse across entities, while accommodating legitimate differences in source systems, data structures and local technology environments.

• Monitor pipeline health and implement alerting, reconciliation and recovery mechanisms to maintain reliable data flows.

• Implement data quality controls covering completeness, accuracy, consistency and timeliness and address the root causes of recurring issues.

• Maintain data lineage, metadata and integration documentation so data movement and transformations remain traceable and auditable.

• Assess the impact of source-system and platform changes, working closely with Group IT, Group Data & AI, source-system owners and the Data Cloud Architects.

• Optimise ingestion approaches, processing frequency and data volumes to maintain platform performance and efficient Data Cloud consumption.

• Apply appropriate security, access and data-transfer controls across integration and ingestion processes.

• Configure Data Streams, DLO-to-DMO mappings, transformations and other Data Cloud components required to implement approved use cases.

We are looking for people who

• Have built and operated enterprise data integrations and pipelines at scale across multiple systems, business entities or markets.

• Are strong in SQL, data modelling and transformation and comfortable with API, event-driven, batch and other enterprise integration patterns.

• Have experience with cloud data platforms and integration technologies such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, MuleSoft or comparable technologies.

• Have integrated data into Salesforce Data Cloud, Salesforce or another enterprise customer data platform and understand the ingestion and data-structure requirements involved.

• Are rigorous about data quality, lineage and reconciliation and can trace issues across multiple systems to their source.

• Apply strong engineering discipline across monitoring, resilience, security, access controls and maintainability.

• Can work effectively with architects, platform specialists, enterprise technology teams and vendors and explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Have 8 or more years of relevant experience in data engineering, data integration or related disciplines, and hold a degree in a relevant discipline.

• Relevant Salesforce Data Cloud, MuleSoft, Salesforce integration or cloud certifications, and experience in insurance, banking or another regulated industry, will be advantageous.
