We are pleased to be partnering a high-growth Consumer Finance Platform to appoint a senior credit risk strategist (circa. $170k annual base with separate bonus) into the organisation. Based in Singapore, this is a role for someone who can connect credit policy, portfolio performance and commercial growth for one of the largest consumer lending books in the group.
The Role
- End-to-end credit risk strategy for the BNPL book: acquisition criteria, credit limit assignment, pricing, and account management.
- Translation of risk appetite into policies embedded across the full customer lifecycle, with direct accountability for approval rate, bad rate, NPL, recovery, and portfolio yield.
- Strategy and performance oversight across application, behavior, transaction, and recovery models — providing senior guidance to modelers and analysts, validating outputs before deployment, and converting them into cutoffs, segmentations, and policy levers.
- A unified view of portfolio health across risk, collections, and fraud, with early warning on emerging trends and structural fixes rather than reactive patches.
- Partnership with Product, Business, Engineering, and Marketing on growth initiatives — assessing new launches through a risk lens and communicating trade-offs to leadership.
- Representation of the risk function in audits, regulatory reviews, and governance forums.
- Policy experimentation (A/B tests) from hypothesis to rollout, and stress testing/scenario analysis on portfolio.
- Proactive identification of gaps in the existing risk framework, with end-to-end ownership of the initiatives to close them.
Ideal Candidate
- At least 5 years of combined experience in credit risk and data analytics, data science, or business intelligence
- Career arc that started in a technical/data science role and progressed into business analysis, portfolio strategy, or risk policy ownership will be highly favoured
- Hands-on consumer lending experience — BNPL, PayLater, digital lending, or unsecured consumer credit. Familiarity with local credit bureau ecosystem, local alternative data sources, and country-specific risk dynamics is essential.
- Strong understanding of lending economics and the full credit lifecycle: approval, limit, pricing, delinquency, recovery.
- Ability to work with modelers and data teams from a position of technical credibility — able to challenge methodology, validate outputs, and translate model results into policy.
- Proficient in SQL; comfortable with Python, Tableau, or equivalent analytics tooling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication — able to move fluidly between technical discussions with data teams and commercial conversations with leadership.
- Self-driven, structured, outcome-oriented; able to operate independently across two or more geographies.
