Role Description The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and driving organizational performance across Global Specialty Ingredients. This on-site position, based in Klang, leads operational strategy, production efficiency, supply chain optimization, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The COO collaborates closely with the CEO and executive team to translate business goals into operational plans, monitor key performance indicators, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Daily responsibilities include managing cross-functional teams, overseeing budgeting and resource allocation, supporting new product introduction, and maintaining strong relationships with global partners and customers. The role also focuses on building a high-performance culture, strengthening processes, and supporting sustainable growth in line with GSI’s commitment to reliability and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including the ability to guide cross-functional teams, build a high-performance culture, and mentor emerging leaders.
• Strong operational management capabilities in manufacturing or ingredients-related industries, covering production planning, supply chain management, and process optimization.
• Proficiency in strategic planning, business analysis, and performance management, with experience using data and KPIs to drive decisions and continuous improvement.
• Solid understanding of quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and safety standards relevant to food, non-food, or specialty ingredients sectors.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills for collaborating with executive leadership, global partners, and key customers.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in a senior operations or COO-level role within manufacturing, food ingredients, or related industries, preferably in a multinational context.
• Ability to work on-site in Klang, with a readiness to travel regionally or internationally as required.
• Experience with sustainability initiatives, cost optimization, and change management will be highly beneficial.
