At Transcelestial, we are building a space laser communication network to deliver the future of Internet Distribution worldwide. Founded in Dec 2016, the Transcelestial team is located in Singapore and is backed by major investors such as Wavemaker Partners, EDBI, Airbus Ventures, Cap Vista, SEEDS Capital (Enterprise SG), Entrepreneur First and others. Right now, we are using the free space optics laser communication technology to provide a rapidly deployable, affordable, low cost and high speed Last Mile Connectivity solution, CENTAURI, which speeds up adoption of 4G and 5G globally.

Transcelestial is looking for exceptional, technically strong and curious interns to work on maximizing the impact of our technology, both on terrestrial and space projects. Come help us shape the future of how our civilization will communicate!

You will be embedded in daily activities of the R&D team, enhance your technical problem solving skills, get exposed to new tools, methods, and programming languages. You will gain practical experience ranging from prototyping to testing and implementation.

Job Overview

Opto-mechanical Laser-communication Intern

1. You’ll be working on laser communication systems for Singapore’s first Optical Ground Station. You will design, calibrate and test opto-mechanical systems that will support ground to space laser communication missions.
2. Projects will be multi-disciplinary across mechanical, optics, and electrical systems, with hands-on prototyping opportunities. Take charge of the R&D process from ideation, to prototyping, and manufacturing.
3. Must be proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, OnShape etc.), familiar with GD&T and manufacturing processes, good understanding of 3D printing, and a keen attitude for learning.
4. Good to have: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Optical ray simulation

Software (Backend Engineering) Intern

1. You’ll be working on an Enterprise app - this is a product developed for our customers to manage lifecycle of our space laser communication terminals
2. You’ll be developing a chat bot for said customers using RAG
3. Good to have: React, TypeScript, Golang, PostgreSQL, Docker
4. Bonus: experience building chatbots

Electronics & Embedded Systems Intern

1. You’ll help design, print, assemble, test and iterate on real hardware for exciting space-focused projects including building for cubesat missions.
2. Experience in 3D design, CAD and 3D printing, comfortable with electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, mechatronics.
3. Like getting your hands dirty assembling mechanical and electronic / embedded systems
4. Good to have: experience building robots, modified printers, wiring up prototypes.
