Job Overview

Join UNICEF Malaysia’s In-House Face-to-Face Fundraising team and play an active role in engaging potential supporters and raising awareness of UNICEF’s programmes and impact.

This role involves approaching and communicating with potential donors, sharing UNICEF’s mission and impact stories, conducting fundraising activities, and building meaningful relationships with supporters to secure ongoing contributions.

Initial contract duration is 3 months. Upon successfully passing probation, the contract will be extended until the end of the year, with subsequent renewals on a yearly contract basis.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fundraising, sales, business development, or a similar donor-facing role is preferred, particularly within the non-profit or development sector.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build rapport quickly.

• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales or fundraising targets.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple donor relationships and follow-ups.

• Passion for UNICEF’s mission and commitment to supporting vulnerable children.

• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential; additional languages are an advantage.

• Positive and resilient attitude with the ability to handle rejection and remain motivated.

• Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

• Willing to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising events.

• Valid driving licence and access to personal transport are preferred for attending donor meetings and events across Malaysia.

• Certification in fundraising, sales, or related qualifications is an advantage but not essential with demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify, approach, and cultivate relationships with potential donors from individual and corporate sectors.

• Present UNICEF’s programmes, impact, and fundraising opportunities to prospective supporters in a compelling and persuasive manner.

• Conduct fundraising campaigns and promotional events to raise awareness and secure financial contributions.

• Meet and exceed individual fundraising targets and quotas consistently.

• Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, pledges, and donations using UNICEF’s database systems.

• Build and sustain long-term relationships with donors to encourage repeat giving and increased contribution levels.

• Communicate UNICEF’s mission, values, and impact stories effectively to motivate and engage donors.

• Participate in community outreach activities, fundraising events, and promotional activities across Malaysia.

• Provide regular updates to management on fundraising progress, challenges, and opportunities.

• Collaborate with the broader fundraising and communications team to ensure consistent messaging and campaign effectiveness.

• Basic salary of RM2,300 per month, increasing to RM2,500 upon passing probation.
