thrive is the young audience initiative of The Business Times (BT), South-east Asia’s leading business publication based in Singapore, the region’s financial hub.

As a Young Audience Assistant Editor, you will join the front-lines of BT’s initiative to reach Gen Zs and young millennials aged 21-30. Reporting to the Young Audience Editor, you will help contextualise business and financial topics that matter to young working adults with the goal of familiarising them with the BT brand and cultivating the next generation of BT readers.

Key responsibilities:

• Curate topics for featuring in thrive’s social media platforms and weekly newsletter
• Copy edit and occasionally write for our weekly e-newsletter on issues pertaining to career, money and life
• Working with the editor to plan out weekly editorial content
• Ideate, supervise and produce content for our social media posts (these include explainers, trend stories, profile pieces, opinion pieces, analyses and more)
• Copy edit and oversee the scripting of short-form reels on social media, sometimes fronting the reels as well
• Distill business and personal finance concepts and language into content that is easily understood
• Propose creative and fresh content and engagement ideas, in tune with Gen Z trends, concerns and interests

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent credentials in media or a related field
• Outstanding command of the English language, with a sharp eye for structural logic, tone, clarity, and grammatical precision
• Strong editorial judgement to craft stories that resonate with Gen Zs
• Have three to four years of experience writing news or related content (Experience writing on personal finance and/or financial news a bonus)
• Familiar with writing for social media platforms (especially Instagram and TikTok) and what’s trending
• On-camera comfort is a plus
• Interest in current affairs, personal finance, politics and careers
• Ability to manage strict deadlines and fact-check information
• Ability to learn fast and work with a team
• Enthusiasm and resourcefulness key traits that are valued
