Tanggungjawab

The Account Manager (ACM) is the primary commercial owner of an assigned portfolio of existing customers. The role focuses on retaining and strengthening these relationships: managing contract renewals and rate reviews, safeguarding service performance against agreed SLAs, protecting account profitability, and coordinating with operations and our group offices overseas. The ACM will also grow revenue within the portfolio and support selected new business opportunities, but business development is a secondary part of the role rather than its main focus.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Client Retention

  • Own the end-to-end relationship for an assigned portfolio of key accounts, acting as the main point of contact for commercial and service matters.
  • Build relationships at multiple levels within customer organisations, from operational users to procurement and senior decision-makers.
  • Develop and maintain account plans covering customer needs, volume forecasts, risks, renewal timelines and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct regular account reviews (monthly or quarterly business reviews) to present performance, address issues and agree improvement actions.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and identify early warning signs of attrition, taking proactive steps to retain accounts.

Contract Renewals & Commercial Management

  • Manage the full contract renewal cycle, including tracking expiry dates, preparing renewal proposals and negotiating terms well ahead of contract end.
  • Lead periodic rate reviews and pricing adjustments (e.g. fuel surcharges, cost escalations, scope changes) while protecting account margins.
  • Review contract terms, SLAs, liability and payment terms with the internal legal/finance teams before submission, escalating non-standard terms for approval.
  • Prepare and respond to customer RFQs and tenders for existing accounts, coordinating costing inputs with operations and pricing teams.
  • Work with Finance on billing accuracy, credit terms and overdue receivables for accounts in the portfolio.

Service Performance & Operational Coordination

  • Act as the bridge between customers and internal operations to ensure services are delivered as agreed.
  • Track SLA and KPI performance and drive corrective action plans when targets are missed.
  • Manage escalations, service failures, claims and incidents promptly and professionally, keeping customers informed until resolution.

Reporting & Governance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date account records, pipeline and renewal information in the CRM system.
  • Prepare regular reports on portfolio revenue, margin, renewal status and account health for management.
  • Ensure customer dealings comply with company policies, group governance requirements and applicable regulations, including the handling of customer personal data in line with the PDPA.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in account management, key account management or customer-facing commercial roles in the logistics, 3PL or transport industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contract renewals, rate negotiations and customer retention for B2B accounts.
  • Good working knowledge of transport logistics operations
  • Commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to read costing sheets and understand margin drivers.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust at operational and senior management levels.
  • Effective negotiation skills, with a focus on balanced, long-term commercial outcomes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Structured and organised, able to manage multiple accounts, renewal deadlines and priorities at the same time.
  • Problem-solving mindset and calm under pressure when handling service escalations.
  • Collaborative team player who works well with operations, finance and regional colleagues.
  • Results-oriented, with ownership and accountability for portfolio performance.
